Ventilation of Vegetable Storage Area
2017 Silverado 3500
2015 Eagle Cap 850
We store our vegetables under our sink. Without ventilation in this area, the temperature in this area can get rather warm – especially during the summer months.
Since we don’t always use the vegetables fast enough, they can be in this storage area for a few days. To prolong the life of the vegetables, we needed to add ventilation.
A four-inch 12-volt computer fan was installed to move air within this area. Since overheating is not a consideration during the winter months, or when the camper is parked in our driveway, a thermostat was also installed to control the operation of the fan. Power for the fan was obtained from the 12-volt power buss.
We have not experienced any problems with rotten or smelly vegetables since installing the fan. It took me one hour to complete this modification and cost me $18. In my opinion, the skill level of this modification is easy if one is at ease working around electricity.
