Roll back the clock about fifteen years or so and the Mid-Atlantic Truck Camper Rally was thee annual truck camper event in North America. For about a decade, you could see more truck camper rigs, and fellow truck campers in Sanford, Virginia than anywhere else on the planet.
Living at the time in Pennsylvania, Angela and I went every year and covered the event in Truck Camper Magazine. Some of those early videos are a bit crude by today’s YouTube standards, but they encapsulate the wonderful spirit of that time. We looked forward to that rally every year like it was Christmas.

2022 NC Truck Camper Rally
Taking us to the present, the Runaway Roses visited one of the bigger truck camper rallies on the East Coast today; the 2022 North Carolina Truck Camper Rally.
It may be 13 years after our Mid-Atlantic video, but so much of the vibe and fun remains the same. It’s still all about seeing so many truck camper rigs, meeting fellow truck camper owners, camper walkthroughs, attending seminars, and eating lots of delicious food.
Oh, and a few adult beverages, some serious laughs around a campfire, and sharing where you’ve been, and where you’re going next.

An important tip is that there are often last-minute spots available. If you have the opportunity, make a reservation well in advance, but don’t hesitate to call if you have the opportunity. Truck camper rallies are amazing.
