We decided to find the most remote beach we could reach with our 4x4s. After five hours on single-lane logging roads, we discovered this secluded cove. As soon as I found a place to park, I jumped out to photograph the truck. It felt like we had traveled back to 1970, driving on the sand with no one else around.

This photo was taken at the top of Shafer Trail, which turned out to be the last off-road adventure for our old truck. On the climb back out, she struggled for power and we pushed her to the limit. After stalling at the visitor center, we made a few roadside repairs and managed to drive all the way home to Maryland. She'll spend her retirement hauling our family of four on shorter, less demanding camping trips along the East Coast. If you drive Shafer Trail, we highly recommend staying at Dead Horse Point State Park instead of the Island in the Sky Campground for incredible dark skies and beautiful sunset views.

We were looking for a campsite close to the water, but nearly every spot was already taken by large groups with trailers. We found a small flat spot between two fingers of the lake and were able to drive right in. That's one of the things we love most about our truck camper. It fits into places that larger rigs can't. After two days of bad weather and a fall while climbing a talus-covered peak to photograph Merriam Peak, I decided to head back to my camper. That day, I camped near Conway Summit, halfway between Bridgeport and Lee Vining. The stormy skies held overnight, and after a rough week of backpacking, I was treated to a fantastic deep red and orange sunrise from my base camp, the Arctic Fox 865.

Twelve miles from Hyder, up a dirt mining road, is the beautiful Salmon Glacier. Most visitors turn around at the popular glacier viewpoint, but a couple of miles farther, we found roads leading to old mine test drilling sites. We confirmed access on the onX app and made our way to this epic campsite about 100 feet above the east glacier tail. From our unique vantage point, we watched the glacier calve and listened to the sounds of the waterfall and cracking ice throughout the day. It was an awesome campsite to cap off our Alaska trip.

It was one of the better signs we've seen, with plenty of room to pull over and take some camper glamour shots. Our Supertramp was born in Golden, and it was fun to get a Colorado camper picture with something other than our fantastic mountains and forests. The canyonlands are vast, wild, and remote, shaped by volcanic activity, wind, and water into a stunning, rugged landscape. We spent six days exploring a small section along the borders of Oregon, Idaho, and Nevada. On several days, we hardly saw another person, making it feel like our own private wilderness. While exploring the Leslie Gulch area, we hiked through several scenic side gulches. At Dago Gulch, we realized it would be the perfect spot to capture an early-evening galaxy shot before the nearly full moon rose over the tuff pinnacles and hillsides. This photo captures the moment the moon began to wash out the galaxy while casting a beautiful glow over the tuff pinnacles, hillsides, and clouds. A ten-second exposure at f/2.8 and ISO 3200 brought out the details in the foreground.
