Spent the evening at this stunning location overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence. We were perhaps 40’ from the cliff’s edge. At 3am, a gale comes up blowing a steady 30 knots with higher gusts that made us wonder if we’d be blown off the cliff. Didn’t sleep much but still totally worth it. Would go back in a heartbeat.

We live in Sacramento California, and did a northern coast tour. We headed up the coast to Fort Bragg and stopped many places along the way. We stayed most of our time at Casper Beach. One thing we love about having a truck camper is the ability to pull in, stop, park almost anywhere. Pulling into other campsites, small towns to explore, any beach or Cliff we want to pull off and check out we can. One of the spots that looked fun, was down a small twisty road, Russian Gulch state park. Very nice park to stay at under a large bridge on highway 1, we pulled in, grabbed a spot in the parking lot and were able to walk around and check out the beach. As we left we snapped a cool photo of the truck and camper sitting in front of the beach under the bridge.

We visited 12 states, 17 national parks, several state parks and countless sights along the way. After leaving Capitol Reef National Park in Utah we headed toward Moab. While on our way we stopped in Goblin Valley because we knew the landscape was a must see. This location was just outside of the state park near BLM land where many are known to camp and off road.

We learned that the river was flowing high due to extra water being released from Flaming Gorge Dam. It made some spots on the road pretty scary with cliffs on one side and river close to the road on the other. This was after we got past the tight spots and could relax the white knuckle grip on the steering wheel and get out for a photo. We love incredible colors of the desert and the back roads and the truck camper rig to get us there.

We spent the day exploring and biking many parts of the park. The park was full and so we had to make it work. The beauty of having a truck camper you can take the road less traveled and so we did. We stumbled upon this disbursed camp spot overlooking Yosemite mountains. It was a perfect night to be on top of the mountains. With no one around us we enjoyed the gorgeous sunset and without a street light in sight the stars were magnificent!

I didn't feel like driving in the dark anymore, so I pulled over and boondocked at this spot alongside the Tok Cutoff. I knew the aurora forecast was promising, but it was cloudy and raining when I went to bed, so I didn't plan on waking up. I was up at 3 AM anyway, and when I stuck my head outside I was surprised with stars and aurora. I grabbed the Nikon and tripod and took many photos over the next hour until the northern lights faded away. This one was my favorite.

In total, we logged 45 nights in the camper along 4800 miles of this beautiful country. The top spots were our time in Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks. Since we were moving across the country we not only had the truck with the camper but also our 2nd vehicle. We just packed out of Colter Bay RV Park following a 3-night stay and were headed to the Virginian RV Park in Jackson Hole for the July 4th rodeo and fireworks. As my wife was driving the camper along Teton Park Road (with me in pursuit in our other vehicle) the Lance Camper mountain graphics started aligning with the backdrop... I knew we had to pull over and snap a shot! Here is the result!

In total, we logged 45 nights in the camper along 4800 miles of this beautiful country. I took this photo along MT-49 overlooking Lower Two Medicine Lake in Montana. We were in transit from our 5-night stay in West Glacier to our 2-night reservation in St. Mary, East Glacier. MT-49 restricts vehicles to 21'. Fortunately for us, our short bed truck and small camper measure in at exactly 21' giving us access to an area commonly missed by those traveling in motorhomes and towables. Yet another reason why truck campers rule!

In total, we logged 45 nights in the truck camper along 4800 miles of this beautiful country. The top spots were our time in Glacier, Yellowstone, and Grand Teton National Parks. Since we were moving across the country we not only had the truck with the camper but also our 2nd vehicle. While drafting off my wife driving the truck camper, I paused and looked around... it doesn't take a National Park designation for one to enjoy the sights! Straight rolling road with panoramic views, no tolls, no traffic, and no worry in the world. I quickly snapped this picture to capture the moment knowing views like this disappeared the closer to Florida we got.

Ryan (Penney) and I were exploring the logging roads of Maine when we stumbled upon this gorgeous red field. This field was more than a square mile of the brightest red, these bushes are about ankle high and are lowbush blueberries! The site is now home to the The Onondaga submarine, The Empress of Ireland Museum commemorating the tragic loss of a Canadian ocean liner on the St Lawrence Seaway, and the Pointe-au-Père Lighthouse which is fairly unique and certainly beautiful with its fly buttresses. The pier is open to boondocking for museum visitors but rigs poured in after the museums closed without being harassed. Still, all three sites are very much worth visiting and there is also a distillery open into the evening that is in easy walking distance and worth visiting. We started our stay parked near the museums while we visited but found that wind speeds had grown to be problematic by day's end so we moved to the end of the pier to face into the wind and maximize our view of the St Lawrence seaway. We returned about a week later when storm Fiona forced Forillon NP on the tip of the Gaspé Peninsula to evacuate.
