I stumbled on this magnificent, waterfront, public, rest area. I couldn’t resist stopping and enjoying lunch under one of their beautiful, covered, picnic tables overlooking a beautiful lake. I found out later that it had been closed for a long time and was recently completely renewed. It certainly showed it! What a treat!

The elevation was 12,095 feet at this location. Restrictions on this stretch of highway do not allow for vehicles over 35 feet in length (this includes a vehicle and trailer that, together, exceed 35 feet) may use the Pass at any time. Since our truck camper is far under the 35 feet restriction my family and I were able to explore and appreciate this scenic drive over the pass between Leadville and Aspen Colorado. We look forward to many more years of vacationing in our truck camper.

During the 1800 mile plus trip I had only minor problems, but a lot of fun. Note the collector plates on my truck. It is an oldie, but a goodie and I am very proud of her. I found that the Ohio Turnpike had overnight spots for just $20 per night complete with power and a dump station. Such a deal! It made my trip much more relaxing.

The weather was starting to turn and the night prior we stayed in Banff, Alberta where it snowed and the temperature dipped to -14 degrees Celsius. We love taking our truck camper because we have our own accommodations. We can bring our Yorky, Dexter, who loves road trips. The truck camper lets us enjoy the seasons early and later in the year. We usually take a couple of extra days on our trips to stop and see new areas on the way. Such as this beautiful rest area in the picture at Vermilion Crossing in British Columbia.

Our Lance provided great mobility, generator, solar, satellite the perfect trip. Last year we traveled to Victoria Island, loaded our rig on ferried over with ease. Love our Lance. Other travelers are amazed with our capabilities our Lance affords.

I got out the cast iron pan and cooked up some fajitas. We ate, sipped wine and had dark chocolate with berries as we watched the sun set. The next morning I was getting ready to leave and my sweetie shot this photo. What a great experience!

We frequently head up after work. This trip we pulled in late and dry camped. I cooked up some Pacific wild Salmon and cauliflower rice. After dinner we read to each other and laid under the skylight viewing the Milky Way until we fell asleep lulled by sound of the Provo river near by. The next morning after coffee we took a walk and took this shot.

This photo was taken at White Sands National Park near the beginning of a three month 12,000 mile trip. We visited seventeen National Parks and Monuments and 23 states during this trip. In the past six years we have traveled about 70,000 miles with our camper from Florida to places as far as Newfoundland and Washington state.

We were driving from the Jackson Hole area heading towards Dutch Jon, Utah to do some fly fishing when I told my wife that the area looked like BLM land. She did a quick check of the map and it was BLM so turned down a gravel road for a couple of miles, then turned on a “two track” across a prairie and ended up on this plateau with nothing nothing for miles but the Rocky Mountains and antelope.

This picture was taken on July 7, 2019 while boondocking at Noddy Bay on the great northern peninsula of Newfoundland not far from L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site and UNESCO World Heritage Site.The iceberg was grounded in the bay, and although looks like 3 icebergs, it was still fully intact under the water.

That certainly doesn't bother us though, after all, check out our view! Being perched 400 feet above the valley floor with incredible views right out our dining room window just makes us smile. With the sparse traffic, little light pollution and abundant wildlife the Badlands is one of our favorite boondocking spots for lots of great photography and keeps us coming back year after year.

Spent a year and a half completely rebuilding the interior of the truck and yanking out the old 350 V8 and 4-Spd to put in a fresh 454/TH400 out of a donor truck I bought. My truck now has air conditioning, stereo, tilt, all the goodies I had when I had new trucks! My camper needed nothing! They never used it! Everything works and my buddy Kirby (pictured) and I love to go camping!

About a ton of materials on the trailer, an Arctic Cat Prowler to access the building site located in the abandoned Kennecott Copper Mine Mill Site. I camp in the old abandoned dairy, and haul the materials into the building site (about 6-7 miles) with Prowler. Kennecott was the site of the richest copper strike in the world and operated from 1911 to 1938, and shortly thereafter became a ghost town.

We went to this area to hike Saturday and then explore some BLM roads on Sunday. After a chilly hike and cozy dinner in our camper we woke up the next day to a whiteout snowstorm. We forged on and had a great time adventuring on these back roads. This photo was taken once we has finally gotten clear of the low hanging pine trees and into a patch of aspens.

What a treat! This was a beautiful canyon with so many rock features and glimpses of the La Sal mountains. We stopped at this little turnout to run the dogs along the river's edge and enjoy the view of these desert towers.

The camping is free and it's one of our favorite places to go to because you get to bike right from your rig. It was a windy weekend that forced us to hangout in the camper quite a bit but when the sun went down, the wind calmed and we were able to truly soak up what was a beautiful sunset over the Colorado mountains.

The elevation is 6,000 feet. It was the peak of fall colors, every direction you looked the view was simply spectacular! There were a number of old mining shacks from days gone by, the roads getting into them were a bit dicey, got one flat in two days of poking around up there. Well worth the trip and effort to see the view.

There is an 11k road getting up to it, 4x4 is not needed, although nice to have coming down and using the transmission instead of your brakes, but well worth the time regardless. We spend two nights camping up here in the peak of fall colors, everywhere you looked was beautiful. We camped near this old mine, the ore was brought out on the tracks and then dumped, there is a rather large drop off on the other side of those tracks! While having coffee in the morning, a bull moose and four cows wandered by. One of the cows was nearing estrus, as about an hour later another bull moose showed up sniffing all over the place, not a site you everyday!

#472 - Kevin MooneyDempster Highway2014 Ford F3502006 Okanagan 106UDBCamera Used - iPhone SEComing back from the Arctic Ocean/Tuk, it was time to call it a day, so we pulled off into this old creek bed area, as good a place to camp as anywhere else (between Eagle Plain's and Tombstone Park). It had been raining earlier in the day, and between the calcium and dust mixture on the road, it creates a lovely form of slime on the back of your rig. Short of a car wash, about all you can use is a bit of drinking water to clean up the entry handle, till you can get inside and get more water. The trip up to Tuk is approximately 850km's of gravel, one way, from the pavement near Dawson City, Yukon. The road is pretty rough in some areas, we averaged between 60-80 k's for most of it, going slow was nice though, as it made site seeing a little less stressful. Well worth the time, effort and money to make this trip, especially if your into big open wild country, not a lot of folks up there. Oddly enough, for those that need cell phone coverage or internet, every small town along the way has great coverage, this includes all of the Yukon as well, go figure!

My friend and I decided to drive from Wyoming up the coast of Washington to Bellingham to put the truck camper on the ferry. We spent three nights and nights days going up the inside passage. What beautiful country! We unloaded in Skagway, and spent a month exploring our 49th state. - Alaska. When I decided it was time to come home I drove The Top of the World Highway to the Yukon territory and then down the Cassiar Highway through Banff and Jasper and then on to Wyoming. Put on over 5,000. I had a friend go with me for two weeks and then he had to fly home to work. I stayed for another 16 days exploring. I was 57 at the time and I am a teacher so I love to explore our beautiful country.

I am a teaches and two of the places that have been on the bucket list were White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. Right after school was out I decided to head to New Mexico from Wyoming. I was gone for ten days and saw some amazing country. I have learned from all the traveling I do in my truck camper (I usually travel alone - age 59) to stop and ask the local people what I need to see in the area. Wow!! I am never disappointed! I went through National Parks, canyons, valleys, deserts, small towns and a few cities (I avoid cities as much as possible). I can't wait until I can de-winterize my camper in the spring and I am off exploring the our amazing country. There is so much to see and not enough time.
