Once I graduated I made some finishing touches and dropped it in my truck’s bed. From Lubbock I headed for Canada through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana. This picture is taken somewhere on the roadside about half way on my journey close to Silverton, Colorado. I saw more pretty country than I ever thought I’d see in my life. l met some great people and attended two world class rodeos. I can’t wait to see where this tuck camper takes me next.

Our one and only child, Rhyder, decided that he wanted to 4-H rodeo this summer instead of playing baseball. We had originally bought the camper to pull a boat behind it for summer lake trips, but we were on the rodeo trail instead. Across the state we were the only Capri camper with a bumper pull pulling into rodeos. This particular picture was taken in New Underwood, South Dakota right after we got camp set up. The sun setting and the clouds are what drove me to take this picture. It was just such a beautiful evening not to take a picture of how unique our rig is versus having a big living quarters trailer. When it’s just the three of us, two dogs and a horse, our Capri is just the right fit.

It’s a big campground on the Colorado River with room for lots of tow rigs. We ran Trough Trail and Sidewinder. I use a Torklift SuperHitch and 48-inch extension to tow my ATC 20 foot trailer.

With lots of snow on the ground and temperatures well below freezing, our beautiful new toy had to sit for two months, unused but definitely not unloved. Finally winter retreated and our schedules freed up enough to let us get out for our first camping trip.We dashed out of of work on a Friday afternoon, heading up to Alice Lake Provincial Park about 40 minutes south of Whistler, Canada. Finding a great site was easy at this time of the year. This photo was taken in April of 2019 after arriving and setting up in the rain. Protected by the awning and out of the wind, we got a fire going (ignore the smoke, it was going, really) and finally got to enjoy a wonderful and warm first night in our new Lance.

What we thought was going to be a mild 40 degree weekend with our newborn twins turned into about a foot of snow on the ground, getting the truck stuck with the camper on and a car hauler in tow, and the jacks being frozen into our camp spot. We had to unfreeze them with a hairdryer and eventually a torch from Walmart. We wouldn’t trade our Lance for anything though. We love it!

A highlight of our trip was the Dalton Highway and making it to the Arctic Ocean on our own, in our truck with just the dog. All told, we drove a bit over 13,000 miles in eight weeks, and slept in the camper all but one of those nights. This picture was taken just south of Atigun Pass on the Dalton Highway, where we spent the night on an old abandoned airstrip we found. It was taken at about midnight, on our way back from Deadhorse, Alaska and after reaching our goal of driving as far north in the United States as possible. Needless the to say, this probably wasn't a once-in-a-lifetime trip. We'll be back to Alaska, and loved the arctic tundra. And so did the dog.

A highlight of our trip was the Dalton Highway and making it to the Arctic Ocean on our own, in our truck with just the dog. All told, we drove a bit over 13,000 miles in eight weeks, and slept in the camper all but one of those nights.This picture was taken on our return trip home to Kansas. While in Banff, we decided to make a last minute change to our trip route, and decided to venture down to Couer d'Alene, Idaho, and through that state since we had never been. We had plans to camp near Yellowstone the day this picture was taken, but while driving through the open, high country of central Idaho, we came across a sign for this campground.Luckily, my wife let me go on the whim of checking it out. About 30 minutes of washboard, narrow switches, and sharp drop-offs later (just another day in the truck camper life!), we came upon the campground. It was absolutely stunning, with some of the best rainbow fishing we've ever encountered. Of our entire trip, this was arguably our favorite established campground. It had everything we liked: remoteness, alpine beauty, stars, and solitude. It was tough to choose our three photos for this contest (we have thousands), and while this one isn't the most stunning, it is very representative of the trip we had. With the exception of the start/end of trip in western Kansas/eastern Colorado, we did not go a single day without mountain vistas - it was as though they never ended! As this photo illustrates, the views were truly panoramic, incredibly humbling and inspiring.

This particular trip was in mid-May 2019 and we were surprised by the amount of snow that was still left in the woods. Sinclair Lake in Northern Ontario is a remote area where the Walleye fishing is outstanding and the campsites are only accessible to the most ardent adventurers.We absolutely love our Lance Camper and spend as many days as we can enjoying it. As you can see by the photo we are able to stretch the season into the cold months with our four season camper.

It was replacing my 2008 Lance 815 camper which had been destroyed by a huge hail storm which hit the Dallas area in April 2016. I was on my way back to Saint Paul Texas North of Dallas deciding to enjoy the trip a little. I took a slight detour to Inks Lake State Park on my way back home. I had just pulled into the campground and set up next to the lake in the background. I enjoyed the evening sunset and wildlife which included several deer roaming the campground that evening after breaking out the grill to cook up dinner.

I took a few detours and decided to visit Enchanted Rock State Park near Fredricksburg, Texas. Enchanted Rock is a granite dome created from a long dormant volcano. The dome rises 425 feet out of the plains of central Texas and can be seen from miles away. I spent the night in the campground and rose early the next morning to hike to the top. The view was amazing and worth the effort. Only the base of the dome can be seen just past the front of the truck and camper which doesn't do justice to the sheer size of the dome.

We spent a week there camping, hiking, and fishing. This was from our first day in the park. The weather was pretty great, but at night it dropped down to low 40s, the all weather package kept us nice and toasty though.

We spent a week there camping, hiking, and fishing. This was from Mammoth Falls. The picture doesn't do it justice, but it was whopping 40-degree high during the day, and lows into the 20s. The all weather package and furnace kept us nice and warm.

I had never been to the panhandle, so I was excited for the opportunity. I camped at the campground on the WMA which spans over 27,000 acres. I dropped my camper off my truck which became my base camp during the evening and used my truck to venture into the WMA to hunt during the day. This was my first trip in this area of Texas. While I had heard stories about it being flat and having nothing out there, I had no idea what I was in for. The temperature was in the 70s when I arrived on Wednesday, but dropped into the 20s by Saturday and snowed 3 to 6 inches. I t was a memory I won't forget and having my camper made the trip much easier.

Every six months for the last four years (since 2015) I have returned to Newnan, Georgia to get myself re-scanned at Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I am a stage 4 throat cancer survivor. I have been blessed to be here and I travel in my truck camper whenever I can. This time I stayed in a Yogi Bear campground. Looking forward to 2020 because in June 2020 I will be declared cancer free. Enjoy life. See as much of it as you can.

This was a spot I always wanted to check out and hit it perfectly. There was an uncrowded surf break with very good waves on both sides of the inlet. The striped bass fishing was excellent and just steps from the back of the rig.
