This trip was for six weeks from October to November 2017. We drove from the west coast’s coastal highway in California to Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and back to Idaho, Oregon and back home to San Francisco. It was amazing trip because it was the fall season and everywhere was so colorful and beautiful. Oregon is a very special state with camping and amazing mountain and lake views. This is the picture that I took was driving back home on the Highway 26 vista point in Oregon. There was nobody at that stop because of the fall season. I think it is very funny that my truck camper can tow a very old big cowboy wagon.

I am doing as many as I can, but for my 60th birthday (2024) I will travel to all of them in that one summer. PNC Park is the home of the Pirates. This was my second major league stadium in my camper. Parking at most stadiums can be tough as most are in downtown areas. I got lucky with this parking space right across from the stadium. They were not going to let me park here because of being oversized, but the supervisor for the lot came and decided to let me stay. He used to camp with his dad in a truck camper and said he did not have the heart to turn me away. I gave him a tour of my camper and ended up making a new friend. Truck campers bring people together.

The Pacific Ocean and completely deserted and undeveloped beach was just a short walk from our doorstep. We stayed a few nights and only saw one person on a four-wheeler. We spend up to four months in our Hallmark Camper with the added convenience of the Stable-Lift. The Stable-Lift allows us to have the camper off the truck in about ten minutes and lowers almost to the ground. It allows us to then use our pick-up to explore some of the rough back country roads and canyons that we would not want to take the camper on. The added advantage is the ability to sleep in the camper without it being on the truck. Our favorite thing to do is hike slot canyons and the Escalante area of Utah has some of the best.

Late fall can be dicey in that part of the country and we hit 50mph winds making our way across the sandhills of Nebraska. It was worth it as we ended up literally having the entire park to ourselves. With no one around, we saw an incredible amount of wildlife and were able to get some great camera shots making for a phenomenal adventure. The cold front that we drove through brought about some 12 degree nights but we kept toasty in our rig.

#078 - Kevin MooneyBull Canyon, British ColumbiaFord F-3502006 Okanagan UDB106Camera Used - iPhone 5My wife Lori and I often find ourselves camping out of season, and in British Columbia there are not many campgrounds open before the May long weekend, unless you are down south in warmer climates. We were on our way home from a dental appointment in the big city. The Provincial campground at Bull Canyon was not open yet, and we found this road that just headed off the highway. It was worthy of exploring. It turned out to be such a pretty spot and had a river right next to it. No one else was around, so it was the perfect place to camp. While out stretching our legs, I started taking shots in the evening light and managed to get our camper in one of them. This area is part of the Chilcotin Plateau. It runs west from Williams Lake towards Bella Coola on the ocean. There are a number of rustic camping areas. They are referred to as recreational sites. Often you are the only person there and they are free, at least in this area. If you don't mind boondocking and going without all the services, there are all kinds of great little hideaways to camp in. There is no cell phone service in this part of the country, and not a lot people either, but that's part of what makes it special. Be good.

It was early December 2017 and we were returning from Arizona on a week long vacation. We pulled off Highway 6 going up Soldier Summit. It was late in the evening. When we woke up, it was 7 degrees out and my pillow was frozen to the window, but the view was spectacular. We also found out our water system had frozen up for the first time ever. So we had to use our bottled water stash to get some morning coffee. Got to love the adventure in boondocking!

It was one of the parks my family traveled to see back in the 1980s. Fruita campground was one of our favorites. During this trip, we were turned away because the campground was full. So we headed east of park to BLM land. This was much nicer than than a crowded campground.

We drove for a long time before finding a spot. It was so crowded near the highway. We were the only ones there without our dirt bikes and everybody dusted us as they rode by! We've since added a front receiver and a motorcycle rack, as well as a Kendon trailer (she has an ATV!). I wish we would've gotten the truck camper a long time ago. So much more freedom!
