Bathroom Glam Remodel
2018 Ford F-350
2022 Northern Lite 8-11EX
The Northern Lite 8-11EX bathroom was small and had limited room for showering with the door closed, which was also ridiculously narrow. The toilet paper holder was in a shoulder dislocation zone, and the plumbing behind the walls is accessible only if you are a contortionist. The sink was way too low and the faucet was in the way. So, I decided to have a demo day and make things better!
I cut out the entire door opening, removing the sliding door. I bought bi-fold doors and separated them I then reattached the doors as two hinged doors. They are now stained and have a marine-grade finish. The door closure for travel was reused from the prior slider.
I installed an Extend-a-Shower bar, hung the curtain on it, and put magnets down the side of the door frame as well as the bottom. Now we have a much wider shower area.
I installed separate shower controls and ran new plumbing for the new shower head, which is affixed to the ceiling by a magnet for showering. It’s clamped on the wall during travel.
I removed the old fixture and cut open the basin opening for new plumbing. I built up a vanity base and installed a vessel sink with a higher faucet.
Now there is a large vanity top as well for the sink. I also installed a GFCI electric outlet that retracts into the wall.
I cut a marine hatch into the under the sink area, fit a wood block into the backside of the hatch door, and screwed on a toilet paper roll hanger. Now the TP stays dry and is also extremely accessible.
I absolutely love this mod. There are no regrets!
All parts came from Amazon. The doors are standard bifold doors from any big box store.
It took me about twelve hours to complete this modification and cost me about $500. The cost would be determined by the appliances you choose.
