2026 Cirrus 920: Streamlined and Refined

Two years after shaking the industry with an all-electric powerhouse, nuCamp is back with a shockwave of a different kind. The 2026 Cirrus 920 trades excess for efficiency—lighter, leaner, and laser-focused on what truck campers actually asked for. Introducing the new 920, and the Elite.

2026 Cirrus 920 Camper Announcement

Two years ago, nuCamp set the entire truck camping marketplace on its ear with the announcement of their second-generation Cirrus 920. Despite sharing the same model name as its predecessor, this new model was a complete ground-up redesign of the hard side, non-slide, long bed truck camper.

The differences were big. The 2023 Cirrus 920 was 10 inches wider, 15 inches longer, 10 inches taller, and featured a 4-inch higher basement than the original. And that’s not even what grabbed the headlines.

In what will likely go down as one of the boldest new truck camper debuts in history, the 2023 Cirrus 920 was an all-electric design with an 810Ah Battle Born lithium battery bank, cutting-edge Victron and REDARC electrical system, and 930 watts of solar.

It didn’t stop there. The 2023 Cirrus 920 had one of the largest dry baths ever seen in a truck camper, a huge storage bumper, gobs of storage, generous holding tanks, and every possible option standard. It’s no wonder the 2023 Cirrus 920 earned the Best Hard Side Truck Camper of 2023 in Truck Camper Magazine’s Readers’ Choice awards.

Now you might think all of the above leads to marketplace success. Well, it did. And it didn’t. The truth is that not everyone wants an all-electric truck camper, even if it has propane back-up like the 2023 Cirrus 920 offered. Add to that a camper that was 900 pounds heavier than its predecessor (mostly from battery and option weight), and a 2023 MSRP within a whisker of $90K.

As you might imagine, nuCamp received a flood of feedback. The overall message was clear: remove the huge, heavy, and expensive battery bank, electrical system, and solar array—along with most of the standard options—and give consumers a lighter, more affordable, and streamlined 920.

And that’s exactly what nuCamp has done.

For 2026, the all-electric Cirrus 920 will remain available as the 920 Elite. For everyone who wants a more traditionally appointed and a la carte optioned camper, nuCamp is introducing the new 920. Dramatically lighter, cheaper, and easier to truck match than the 920 Elite, the new 920 is arguably exactly what many consumers asked for.

To learn more about the new Cirrus 920, and the Cirrus 920 Elite, we talked to Jesse Mullet, President and CEO of nuCamp.

Cirrus 920 On Chevy Truck Torklift Turnbuckles

In September 2023, nuCamp launched the completely redesigned and all-electric Cirrus 920 with game-changing standard lithium, solar and electrical systems onboard. How has that camper performed?

The 920 has done well for us overall, and the feedback we received has been really helpful as we continue to evolve the line.

Our vision for the Cirrus 920 was to differentiate ourselves with a statement camper offering cutting-edge capabilities customers couldn’t get anywhere else. With that dream, going mostly electric with a huge lithium battery bank and solar panel system made sense. The result was a camper with extreme off-grid capabilities, allowing truck camper owners to go further and stay longer.

The 920 was inspired by the solar integration at nuCamp. As a green oriented company, the main nuCamp plant is 60 percent powered by solar. Our recently built service center facility is 100% solar powered. Our green mindset comes into play with everything we design and build at nuCamp.

Cirrus 920 Rendering Driver Front

If you could go back in time, would you change anything about the 920’s concept, design, or prototype phases?

Hindsight is twenty-twenty. Looking back, maybe we should have introduced a more traditional version of the 920, then later brought to market the predominantly electric Elite. That didn’t quite align with our low footprint mindset, which is why we went all-out with electric.

From a design perspective, there are always things we want to improve. On the 920, the width and height of the unit are something we want to streamline in the future without sacrificing interior living space. We’re always listening to our customers, dealers, and experts like you guys. That’s how we get better.

Two years later, the all-electric 920 is becoming the 920 Elite. What’s the difference between the 920 announced in 2023 and the 920 Elite?

Overall, there are no changes to the design and build. However, there are a few minor but important design tweaks to the 920 Elite. For example, the small wall between the dinette and cabover has been trimmed back to make the interior living space feel more open. We also changed the induction cooktop after the original was discontinued by our supplier.

Cirrus 920 Dinette And Big Window

For 2026, nuCamp is announcing a new version of the Cirrus 920. What’s the difference between the 920 Elite and the new 920?

The new 920 dials back the Elite’s extreme battery, solar, and electrical systems, presenting a Cirrus 920 with more traditional—yet still highly advanced—components and features.

As a result, the new 920 is significantly lighter. The new 920 is now 542 pounds lighter and under 3,900 pounds. Most of that weight savings is from scaling back the Elite’s battery bank.

We also brought down the price point of the new 920 by over $26,000 USD. The new 920’s MSRP is $71,609. The 920 Elite is $97,875 with every option standard. The two 920 versions are so different in features, weight, and price that we believe they’ll appeal to very different buyers.

That makes sense. The 920 Elite comes standard with 810Ah of lithium batteries and 930 watts of solar. What’s the standard battery bank and solar system in the new 920?

The new 920 comes standard with one 100Ah lithium battery, with the option to upgrade that battery to one 270Ah lithium battery. Of course, customers can use the front battery compartment utilized in the Elite to add a huge battery bank in the new 920. That compartment is built to handle the weight.

The new 920 has a 1,200 watt power inverter—versus 3,000 watts on the Elite—and a Bluetooth smart shunt battery monitor. The solar panel system on the new 920 is 310 watts vs 930 on the Elite. Again, the same roof space is available, so customers can add more solar after the sale. The new 920 also swaps the Elite’s 50-amp smart plug for a standard 30-amp shore power plug.

What’s fueled by propane in the new 920?

The Alde 3030 Plus hydronic heat and hot water system is powered by either propane or electric. The new 920 also features a propane cooktop. That is all that draws propane in the new 920—just two components. We kept the 12-volt Isotherm 226L compressor refrigerator from the Elite.

The Alde system will likely be the main user of propane in the new 920. Did you expand the propane capacity in the new 920?

With only two components drawing propane, we stayed with one 20-pound propane tank. If we receive customer feedback requesting more propane capacity, we have a solution for that.

Cirrus 920 New Bumper

At the Elkhart RV Open House, we noted two additional changes from the 920 Elite to the new 920; the rear bumper doesn’t feature the storage bins and the main living area interior no longer has the LED light fixture. Why were these changes made?

For the new 920, we removed the 920 Elite bumper storage as well as the slide-out basement storage tray. Other than the storage, it’s the same sixteen-inch wide bumper for more comfort and confidence when entering and exiting the camper.

By removing the basement storage tray, we created a more open storage space in the new 920. Both changes save cost and weight in the new 920.

The main living area lighting in the new 920 has been simplified. That represents something we’re doing across the board at nuCamp. We’re streamlining our designs and getting back to basics. As I like to say, just because we can do something doesn’t mean we should. We’re taking that same focus to our internal processes.

Cirrus 920 Kitchen

By moving the microwave under the cooktop for the new 920, you gained another upper cabinet in the kitchen area. Is the microwave optional or standard in the new 920?

It’s an option. A 110-volt plug is in that cabinet either way. If you do not get a microwave, you get more storage.

Cirrus 920 Dry Bath Toilet

The dry bath on the 920 was an absolute stunner. Has that been changed?

No. It’s exactly the same as the Elite.

What are the fresh, grey, and black tank capacities on the new 920?

They’re the same as the Elite—43 fresh, 35 grey and 25 black.

The 920 Elite comes standard with every possible option. How did you approach options for the new 920?

The new 920 takes a more traditional a la carte approach, allowing customers to choose the options they need or want. This further helps to cut weight and cost from the new model. Options for the new 920 include a Classic 120-inch awning, a rear awning, a Maggie roof rack and ladder, and a convection microwave.

Cirrus 920 Rendering Passenger Side

If someone is speccing out a new 920 and selecting a lot of options, at what point does it make more sense for them to go with a 920 Elite?

That’s an important question. Personally, I have a feeling that most people who want the extreme battery, electrical, and solar panel systems on the Elite will prefer to have those items factory-installed and warrantied by nuCamp. For the customer looking for an all-electric, extreme capacity camper, the Elite makes sense.

The Elite has a $97,875 MSRP, while the new 920 comes in at $71,609. That’s a $26,266 USD difference.

Add the fact that the new 920 is 542 pounds lighter, and truck compatibility comes into play. For example, you might have a truck that payload matches the new 920, where the Elite would put you over.

A fully optioned new 920 comes to $78,517. That’s still $19,358 less than the 920 Elite. Unless you’re planning to dramatically upgrade the battery, electrical, and solar panel system, there’s a wide gap. Again, I think the 920 Elite and the new 920 will appeal to very different buyers.

Cirrus 920 Interior Bed To Door

Have any of the interior or exterior dimensions of the 920 Elite changed for the new 920?

Everything stayed the same for 2026. The dimensions are identical on both units.

What’s the dry base weight of the new 920?

The base dry weight of the new 920 is 3,877 pounds.

How about the center of gravity for the new 920?

It moved about 1.5 inches. The new 920 center of gravity is 50 inches. The 920 Elite center of gravity is 48.5 inches. The difference is mainly from the battery weight and the location between the two campers.

Cirrus 920 On Chevy Truck Driver Side

Now that the new 920 is lighter, what category of trucks is this camper targeting?

The new 920 is very comfortable on a one ton dually.

Has anyone on the nuCamp team taken the new Cirrus 920 out to test it?

Yes. Tanner Guy, our Product Innovation Engineer, owns two Cirrus campers. He’s our Cirrus expert and continues to conduct thorough testing and evaluation on all of our Cirrus units. Our senior leadership team also tests our products. We recently launched a new trailer and five of our seven leaders used it for the weekend. We started doing this a year ago with all of our new products and model year prototypes. We want to have that experience to find any issues or opportunities for improvement before going into production.

Today was our initial walkthrough of our 2026 models to see what we want to do for model year 2027. That’s way ahead of schedule compared to what we had been doing. This gives us more time to design, build and test new prototypes and make needed changes. We can adjust timelines earlier and stay ahead of project deadlines.

What’s the new 920 MSRP for base and fully-loaded versions?

The base MSRP is $71,609 and it’s $78,517 fully loaded. The Elite is $97,875.

What’s the warranty on the new 920?

The new 920 has a one year bumper-to-bumper warranty, and a three year structural warranty.

Are you offering nuCamp’s seven year “Ultimate Protection Plan” for the new 920?

Yes. The MSRP for the Ultimate Protection Plan on the new 920 is $6,195.

On a Cirrus, that covers everything. The UPP isn’t cheap, however, it is the best warranty product on the market. We cover everything for seven years and make decisions based on our core value of “Always do the Right Thing”. If there’s a shortage of solar panels, you get the first one available. If you need a service appointment at nuCamp, you get the first appointment. It’s the best camper warranty in the business, period.

The UPP for the 920 Elite is $8,654. The Elite has a lot more batteries, electrical components, and solar panels to cover.

Will there be any additional changes to the 920 from what we saw at Elkhart?

What you saw in Elkhart is very close to what the production models will be. The only change is that part of the exterior graphic was changed to black on the 920. We’re always working on improvements, but no further changes are on the docket for 2026.

When will the 920 Elite and the new 920 be available at nuCamp Cirrus dealers?

Both 920 versions are in production now and are available. Before you make a trip, give your local Cirrus dealer a call to make sure they have one in stock.

Cirrus 920 Rendering Driver Rear

Are there any more announcements on the horizon for nuCamp and Cirrus?

There’s not much I can share right now. There’s always the potential to bring a redesigned Cirrus 720 back to market. It’s on our list of possibilities. There will be something new and exciting next September at the Elkhart RV Open House.

Everything we do ties back to our mission. We’re not trying to build thousands of campers. We’re focused on quality over quantity and on building every unit the right way. That’s who we are.

This year marks our 20th anniversary, and our word of the year is collaboration. It’s at the heart of how we move forward. We take feedback from experts like you and from our customers seriously. It helps to guide our decisions. We don’t chase every idea, but we do focus on continuous improvement in all of our products. I don’t like getting calls about small, avoidable issues, so we’re always refining workmanship and looking for ways to make our campers better.

Our truck camper team refuses to settle for “good enough.” They’re driven to make every camper more intuitive to use, better built, and more efficient to produce. That commitment—to continuous improvement and smarter craftsmanship—runs through everything we build.
