As I exited the camper on a dark and rainy night, I missed the last step and went soaring forward with arms outstretched.  My hands and knees hit the ground at approximately the same time.  I was wet and muddy, but otherwise unharmed.  I vowed to light up the ground around the stairs and set the wheels turning for this mod.

I had seen rock lights on show cars and trucks and thought that would be a relatively easy way to light up the ground under our camper.  I purchased some rock lights on Amazon and attached them under our camper.

Rock Lights Wiring

I threaded the rock light wire into our holding tank compartment and connected a power source.

Rock Light Switch In Camper

I also added an on/off rocker switch that I can reach from outside the camper.

Ground Light Green Lit Up

Green Rock Light At Night

This new ground light has worked better than we expected.  Not only does it light up our staircase into the camper, but it also helps us find our camper should we go for a long walk around the campground after dark.  The green light cast on the ground helps us find our home as we stroll around at night.

Ground Light Under Camper

Ground Light At Night While Camping

I bought the rock lights on Amazon.  There are several colors and sizes available.  I purchased some low-voltage wire and a rocker switch at a local auto parts store.

It took me three hours to complete this modification and the total cost was about $35.  In my opinion, the skill level of this modification is medium because there is some light wiring required.
