When I built my flat deck, I eliminated the factory reverse taillights and tailgate. Even with relocating the rear camera, backing up at night could potentially be risky.

Rear Backup Lights

For this mod, I attached two LED lights to my custom lower storage boxes and wired the lights into the truck taillight harness. It has worked out well, but you don’t want to be standing behind me when I put the truck in reverse. It’s bright!

Really Bright Rear Back Up Lights 2

The LED lights were $50 each. You can get them from Farm and Fleet, Walmart, etc.

It took me two hours to complete this modification and cost me $100.  In my opinion, the skill level of this modification is easy.
