Increased Bench Space and Decreased Table Space
2017 Ford F-250
2021 Palomino SS-1803
I hated the bench seating and the table in my camper. It was very uncomfortable and the table was always cluttered and a nuisance to pass. I needed to find a more comfortable solution.
When l was not using the dinette for meals, the seat was 16 inches deep (pictured above). This was too short to be comfortable.
The new seat is 21 inches, which is more comfortable. The new seat is split because I left a space between the two to be able to install the table. One side measures 21 inches by 33 inches, and the other is 21 inches by 25 inches.
The backrest measures 60 inches by 5 inches. The plywood is the same size. I used a leatherette of a similar color with finer foam padding.
The original table was very bulky it left 12 inches to circulate around the camper. The new removable table now allows for 24 inches of passage.
I bought the table leg on Amazon. It was easy to install; six screws.
The top of the table is 17 inches by 37 inches. It’s temporary. I am still looking for a top that ideally would measure 20 inches by 36 inches. I painted the top of the table to match the interior color of the camper.
So far I am delighted with the improvements to the table and bench. It is a more practical and removable table.
It took me 20 hours to complete this modification and cost me $195 for the removable table leg on Amazon. The bench cost me $280 in materials.
