Five years ago we challenged truck camper owners from around the world to design their own truck camper floor plans. We had so many submissions that we had to have a Part 1 and Part 2 showing off all the designs.
We received 26 fresh truck camper floor plans – napkin doodles, cut-and-paste mash-ups, graph paper tracings, to AutoCAD renderings – and everything in-between. All of the entered designs brought something extremely valuable to the table. Specifically, they presented user design perspectives from outside the RV industry establishment.
By far the best part of the competition was what it triggered within the truck camper industry. Just about every manufacturer evaluated the concepts and gave the more applicable ideas serious consideration.
None of the entered floor plans – including my own – were picked up and produced, but all of them pushed the creative thinking forward. We can confirm that several manufacturers had design meetings to discuss the presented ideas.
Truck Camper Floor Plan Design Contest II
A lot has changed in five years. For starters, our readership has gone through the proverbial roof. That means a lot of you (a) weren’t reading Truck Camper Magazine back then, or (b) probably have new ideas about what you want out of a truck camper floor plan.
So let’s put pens to napkins again. From hundreds of conversations over the years, we know many of you have thought about this. Now is your chance to share your dream truck camper plan with the world. Who knows, a manufacturer may just be inspired, and build it.
Here’s How To Enter:
1. Draw your dream truck camper floor plan. Here are some examples from the first dream camper contest, Part 1 and Part 2.
Draw your vision for the perfect floor plan on a computer, graph paper, sketch pad or the closest napkin. Don’t worry if you’re not an artist. This is a contest of ideas, not drawing ability. All we care about is that we can “see” your dream truck camper floor plan. Show us the truck camper floor plan you wish some manufacturer would build.
2. Describe your floor plan.
Along with your floor plan, describe what we’re looking at and why you think this would be a good truck camper floor plan.
3. Submit your dream floor plan and description to Truck Camper Magazine.
If your floor plan drawing is on paper, you can either scan your drawing or photograph it (put it on a well-lit table or countertop and photograph your drawing with your camera or phone).
If you’re stuck, email us for a postal mailing address and mail your drawing the old fashioned way. Please send your floor plan in the postal mail by August 1, 2020 so that we get it by August 7, 2020.

4. One floor plan entry allowed per person.
We want to see your best idea. Send us the design you want the industry to build and offer. Or share the floor plan you’d like to build for yourself. Heck, it’s too good for most people anyway – right?

Contest Deadline
The contest closes on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 11:59pm PST. That’s three weeks to draw your floor plan and submit it. The winner will be announced the week of August 10th.
The Prize
We’ll award one winner with a $100 Amazon gift card and, “I won!” bragging rights. How can you resist that?
