Paradise Valley Hot Spring, Nevada

We traveled from Washington State to Nevada with friends to see the solar eclipse from a remote area south of Denio, Nevada. After the eclipse (which was awesome) we drove a few more miles and ended up at Paradise Valley Hot Spring, where we found a lot of people who had spent the night there for the eclipse on the morning of the 14th.

There must have been quite a party there on the night of the 13th! The crowds all left by the end of the day, and we spent two nights boondocking here with our friends who also have a truck camper. The hot springs were nice, but not the best we’ve seen. It was still nice to camp with friends, soak in the spring, and ride our bikes. This photo was taken a little after sunset while we were enjoying the evening on October 15th.

We found this awesome remote boondocking spot on the shores of Lake Santeetlah at the culmination of our Fall color camping tour in western North Carolina. We enjoyed a quiet few days of kayaking and hiking, taking in the spectacular fall colors. You can find me on Instagram at @kriscapturesphotography.

This was our favorite place during our eight-week exploration of Baja and we spent eleven days there. Almost every day we went out in our inflatable kayak to explore the nearby bays, beaches, and headlands.

After spending a fabulous weekend attending a truck camper rally in North Carolina, we headed south to a South Carolina State Park campground that we’ve stayed at previously. Cheraw State Park has a small campground with only 17 RV sites and we were lucky to get one of the five sites directly on the lake for this stay. It was during one of our walks along a boardwalk through the cypress wetlands at the park that I shot this image.

After traveling from November 9th and mostly cooler climates, it was time to get some sun. We were traveling day-to-day without plans and found Pismo, a true gem. Originally we were only going to stay a few days, but ended up staying 15 days.

This photo was taken on our first real trip with our truck camper. We did ten days and covered 3,000 miles starting from Des Moines, Iowa. The photo was taken at Grapevine Hills site #4. If you are looking for a remote site with an interesting drive to get there, this might be the one for you. The seven-mile dirt road took us 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to the site.

This was the same day we did our 15.8-mile hike in the Chisos mountains. We did the south rim trail with the spur trail to summit Emory Peak. I’ve heard the South Rim trail is the best hike in Texas. I’d say it definitely didn’t disappoint.

We were headed home after watching the Annular Eclipse and camping on the Alvord Desert of Eastern Oregon. I was snapping some photos of the rig and the pups to remember the few days spent out there with some friends. Mav and Rambo (the pups) happened to pose like this and I managed to capture the scene at the right time.

This was the first time that I had taken this rig out to the Alvord as I had purchased the camper only two months prior.

At night in this remote area, the night sky was about as vibrant as any that I have seen with the stars and the Milky Way out in full force. It helps that this area is far from any major source of light pollution (the nearest town of any size is Burns, Oregon – 80 miles by air).

The Big Bend picture was our annual trip to West Texas at Christmas time to unplug, relax, and adventure away from the crowds. This was at the Robbers Roost Camp. We hiked the Pine Canyon Trail while camping there.
