STAPLL packed some serious exterior solutions on multiple truck camper rigs at Overland Expo West flexing its flexibility, versatility, and capability for all to see. What can you STAPLL? Almost anything.

As I write this, I’m sitting in a Rugged Mountain Granite Platinum we’ve borrowed in order to test the capabilities of composite panel construction and a number of cutting-edge components featured on this unit. Our personal truck camper is in storage about 2,100 miles and three weeks behind us and we’re still figuring out where to put everything—inside and out. Anyone who has bought a camper and lived in it for more than a weekend knows the “where to put what” is a process that takes time.
This particular camper has been easier for us than many due to the fact that the interior layout and cabinetry is very similar to ours except for one thing—due to the composite wall construction, driver and passenger side exterior storage is almost non-existent. And boy could I sing a sad country song about how you just don’t know how precious driver and passenger side exterior camper storage is until it’s gone. Don’t worry, I won’t.
From conversations with thousands of truck campers over the years, exterior storage comes up again and again. Traditional truck campers need space for shore power cords, fresh water hoses, sewer hoses, and leveling blocks. Overland truck campers pack axes, shovels, recovery straps, bottle jacks, and more. No matter the style of truck camping one pursues, exterior storage is always at a premium.

Thankfully, there are companies like STAPLL who are innovating new and highly capable exterior storage solutions. In a sentence, STAPLL is a modular, drill-free, clamp-on exterior truck bed rail attachment system with MOLLE panels for carrying outdoor gear, tools, recovery equipment, and other bulky accessories.

And by attaching to the truck bed rails, the STAPLL Fender Racks (shown above) create exterior storage opportunities where none existed before. It’s no wonder the STAPLL Fender Rack system won our 2025 Readers’ Choice Award for Truck Camper Innovation.

The versatility of the STAPLL system was on full display at Overland Expo West. In the Supertramp booth, STAPLL Fender Racks were being used on a Flagship HT rig to attach a STAPLL large storage box on the driver’s side, and a Howl R1 fire pit and RotopaX potable container on the passenger’s side. That’s fire, additional water and a generous amount of enclosed storage—all made possible by STAPLL.

As a side note, we had never seen a Howl R1 before and were intrigued with what the company calls ‘the world’s most portable fire pit’. At just 10 pounds, and about the size of a shoebox, the Howl R1 is a product a lot of readers could get fired up about. And it’s obviously perfect for a STAPLL Fender Rack system. STAPLL packs the heat!

In the Outpost booth, the STAPLL system was being used for another STAPLL hard case on the passenger’s side, and two RotopaX containers on the driver’s side. Although not shown in the photo, the grey water from the camper can be routed directly into a RotopaX making the Outpost rig fully self contained. This is one of the most ingenious and practical applications we’ve seen for the STAPLL system.

In the camping field, we found a STAPLL customer using the system for grey water collection, extra fuel, fresh water, and tons of storage. This is the most extreme STAPLL set-up we’ve documented in the wild, and showcases just how much storage, function, and capability the STAPLL system can provide.
