General Coach Canada Announces Citation Explore 10-8

General Coach Canada debuts the Citation Explore 10-8, a hard-side, non-slide, dry bath truck camper for one-ton long bed trucks. If high-end luxury is your game, Citation Explore just upped the ante.

Citation Explore 10-8 Truck Camper Announcement

We announced the return of Citation truck campers and a new series of Citation Explore models this past spring. For that launch, General Coach Canada showcased both non-slide and slide-out truck camper models framed in aluminum with vacuum-bonded lamination and unquestionably high-end features and appliances. Not only was Citation back, but the new Citation Explore was leaps beyond its predecessors, and firmly in the high-end luxury truck camper category.

Roughly six months later, General Coach Canada is announcing a new model to their line-up, the Citation Explore 10-8. And with this introduction, Citation Explore now offers one of the most impressive dry baths we’ve ever seen. The use of Crane composite walls inside the bathroom give the dry bath an especially modern and bright vibe.

At the Elkhart RV Open House in late September, the 10-8 impressed us with its modern, bright, and open presentation. Every camper brand has its own look, but few have such a distinguished interior as the Citation Explore series. If you’re drawn to modern design—monochromatic colors, clean lines, minimalism, and lots of light—the Citation Explore 10-8, and its stablemates, belong on your short list.

For more information on the Citation Extreme 10-8, we talked to Roger Faulkner, President, General Coach Canada.

Citation 10-8 Back Driver

Before we talk about the new Citation Explore 10-8, tell us how things have progressed with the Citation Explore brand and the 9-6 and 10-2 models.

We introduced Citation Explore campers at the Toronto Show this past winter. We had a great response at the show and have since set up a local dealer whose focus is on truck campers. Overall it’s been a slow start for our camper line, but we’re getting more serious with the introduction of our new 10-8.

Citation Explore 10-8 Main Area Vertical

Did the Citation Explore 10-8 start with a clean slate, or is it based on the previous Citation 10-8 floor plan?

We started with the original floor plan using drawings we had on file. The new 10-8 uses the same footprint as the original, but everything else is upgraded. We challenged our design team to improve every aspect of the camper and they delivered.

Citation Explore 10-8 dinette and window

The new 10-8 is a little wider, a little higher, and a little heavier than the original. We’re using the same cabinetry that’s in our $400,000 manufactured homes and the same front windshield that’s in our Citation Reward travel trailers. Everything is top-end. We are not trying to cut corners.

Citation 10-8 Dry Bath Vertical

The stand-out feature on the 10-8 is the dry bath. Why did you decide on a dry bath for the Citation Explore 10-8?

At the Toronto RV show, we heard from a number of consumers who wanted a dry bath. The 10-8 is a non-slide, dry bath model and it fills out our product line.

Citation Explore 10-8 Bathroom Walls

Are the shower walls the same Crane composite used for Citation Explore interior and exterior walls?

Yes. Everything on the 10-8 is high gloss Crane composite; the exterior, interior, and the dry bath. That hasn’t been done before in the RV market. That’s part of what makes our truck camper line stand on its own.

Citation 10-8 Bathroom Countertops

Is the bathroom countertop a solid surface?

Yes, it’s Corian.

That’s quite the modern faucet design. Is that a residential faucet?

It is residential. It comes from our manufactured homes.

Citation 10-8 Kitchen With Refrigerator

Another stand-out feature on the 10-8 is the pull-out metal pantry. Is that exclusive to the 10-8?

Yes, it is.  We’re now using a wood pull-out pantry that takes better advantage of the available space.

Tell us about the material and construction details of the 10-8.

The Citation Explore 10-8 walls and floors are aluminum framed and vacuum bonded with lightweight Azdel composite and closed-cell foam insulation. The roof is aluminum caged with 3/8” plywood decking and an EPDM rubber membrane. The exterior and interior walls are high gloss Crane composite.

Citation 10-8 Kitchen Area

The 10-8 at the show had a matte blue interior. Are there other interior color choices available for the 10-8?

Yes, we offer the choice of Licorice black wood grain, high gloss white, matte blue, or matte grey. We also have grey exterior walls which without a doubt stand out.

Citation Wood Grain

What are the interior fabric color choices for the 10-8?

We offer charcoal grey or neutral tan. The roller blinds, bedspread, and other materials are all neutral grey.

Citation Explore campers have 11.5-inch basements. What are the holding tank sizes in the 10-8?

The Citation 10-8 has 51 gallons of fresh, 32 gallons of grey, and 32 gallons of black.

What is the standard battery bank for the 10-8?

The 10-8 comes standard with one 100ah lithium battery, but there is the option to go up to two 300ah lithium batteries.

Citation 10-8 Go Power Solar

Above: The GoPower solar controller with the matte blue interior color

Citation Explore truck campers come with 400 watts of solar standard. What brand of solar panels are you using for the Citation Explore campers?

We have 400-watts of GoPower solar panels standard.

Citation Explore Truma

Above: The Truma controls and the Licorice wood grain interior color

The 10-2 and 9-6 use Truma Aventa air conditioners and Truma Combi water heaters and furnaces. Are you using the same Truma appliances in the 10-8?

Yes. We are using Truma because it’s the best.

Citation 10-8 Furrion Appliances

The 10-2 and 9-6 also use Furrion ovens, cooktops, 12-volt compressor refrigerators, and microwaves. Are you using the same appliances in the 10-8?

Yes. The Furrion appliances are also the best in their categories.

Citation 10-8 Propane Compartment

What are the propane tank sizes?

We experimented with a few different sizes of propane tanks. We decided double vertical 20-pound tanks were the best for our campers.

Citation 10-8 Storage Bumper By Torklift

Does the Citation Explore 10-8 come with the same Torklift International aluminum storage bumper as the 9-6 and 10-2 models?

Yes. Torklift International came up with something that has worked well for us. The Torklift aluminum bumper is on all of our truck campers.

Citation 10-8 Windshield

How has the fiberglass front nose cap and automotive windshield performed so far?

As a windshield, it’s installed the same way automotive windshields are installed. It fits perfectly into our fiberglass front nose cap and uses automotive sealants. I never say never, but the likelihood of leaking is slim to none.

Citation 10-8 Overcab Bed

Our truck camper front nose caps are the same material and design as our travel trailers. We actually cut the travel trailer mold in half to create the truck camper nose. That’s how we were able to use the same windshield. All of our fiberglass front caps are made locally. It’s important to have a local supplier.

Citation 10-8 Skylight And Windshield

That’s interesting. Is it accurate to say that the design of the 10-8 and the other Citation Explore truck campers are dictated by the shape and size of the windshield?

Yes. We had the floor plans, but then the design flowed from the front windshield. We wanted the same look in our camper line as we have in our Citation Reward travel trailer. For both designs, the windshield was the starting point.

Citation Explore 10-8 Driver Side Exterior

What does the 2025 Citation Explore 10-8 weigh with standard build features?

With standard options, the 10-8 is 4,600 pounds dry.

Citation 10-8 Side Profile

Where is the center of gravity on the 2025 Citation Explore 10-8?

The center of gravity is 48.5 inches from the front wall.

What is the MSRP for the 2025 Citation Explore 10-8 with standard build features?

The MSRP $86,600 USD, or $117,000 Canadian.

Citation 10-8 Dinette and Overcab Bed

What is the warranty for the 2025 Citation Explore 10-8?

We have a five-year structural warranty. To us, the warranty is just as important as the sale itself. If it’s our fault in the manufacturing process, we’ll fix it.

Citation Explore 10-8 On Dually Truck

When will the 2025 Citation Explore 10-8 be available?

The Citation Explore 10-8 is available to order now. That said, we are in the process of looking for dealers in the United States. We will announce our first US dealers here in Truck Camper Magazine.
