Lance Campers introduces a new floor plan for its best-selling 1172 model. The original floor plan will remain available, or you can opt for a two-top dinette and theater seats. Sofa or theater seats? You decide!
The Lance 1172 double slide debuted in 2013 with a fantastic rear slide sofa and full booth dinette combination. For many truck camper enthusiasts, the offer was too tempting to pass up and the 1172 quickly became a best seller for the Lancaster, California manufacturer.
Since then, nearly every material and component in the camper has been improved model year after model year, but the floor plan has remained the same. That all changed at the Elkhart RV Open House this past September.
From the outside, there was nothing to report. Same graphics, same windows, same grey nose cap, same slide mechanisms—same camper. Or was it?
Stepping inside we instantly noticed a difference. Where the rear sofa has been for over a decade there was now a two-top face-to-face dinette. This is perfect for couples who don’t need more seating capacity but still want a dinette and table for meals, map planning, and/or card games. We sit at our face-to-face dinette every day and work on our magazine, so we were happy to see the two-top set-up.
The driver’s side of the camper is where we discovered what Lance is really up to. Nestled snugly in the slide room with the refrigerator were two big recliner theater seats. For many fellow truck campers—including yours truly—the idea of a real sofa or recliner theater seats in a truck camper is the pinnacle of high-end luxury.
With the assistance of electric motors, the seat backs and footrests really recline. This is the kind of feature I warn folks not to try unless they’re ready to buy.

Can you get the rear sofa and the theater seats? Or, can you get the two-top dinette and the full-booth dinette? From our conversations with Lance, the answer is no. The 2025 Lance 1172 is available in its original rear sofa and full booth dinette configuration, or in the new rear two-top dinette and theater seating configuration.
The rest of the 2025 Lance 1172—and the other Lance truck campers—remain as they were for 2024. That might have been disappointing if the Lance team hadn’t also dropped not one, but two major truck camper announcements at the Elkhart event.
Two New Lance 1191 Models Coming
Lance Campers will be bringing back the Lance 1191—twice! The original 1191 was a single slide, side entry, dry bath truck camper with something of a cult following. Why do people still love the 1191? For the ability to easily get to the rear dry bath with the slide-out in, and the distinctly residential small apartment-like vibe. If you’ve been in a Lance 1191, you know what I mean.
To double the fun, Lance is coming out with the original single-slide floor plan and a non-slide version as well. That’s right, two new Lance truck camper models are on the way.
When will the new Lance 1191 models debut in Truck Camper Magazine? Gary Conley, Director of Sales and Marketing for Lance Campers, told us—on camera no less—by the new year.
With unwavering journalistic professionalism, we will hound Gary and the Lance Camper team with tiny rocks on their office windows until we get that announcement. That’s our job. That’s our mission. And that’s our promise to you.
