Kingstar has major option announcements for 2025 including two propane-free diesel options, a Luxe Package, and envelope pushing lithium battery and solar options. 1,380 Ah of lithium anyone?
Having successfully blazed a new trail in the truck camper marketplace, Kingstar is not resting on their laurels for 2025. In fact, they’re introducing several cutting-edge diesel, lithium, and solar options that are sure to bring even more attention to the hard side camper brand. They also have a new Luxe Package that takes their already refined interior and exterior to another level. And if that’s not enough to raise your eyebrow, there’s a new model announcement on the horizon.
Eyebrows up? Good. Let’s begin.
Kingstar Diesel Option 1 and 2
For 2025, Kingstar is announcing two diesel options that completely eliminate LP. Together with a large lithium battery system, an induction cooktop, and a 12-volt refrigerator, you can kick propane tanks to the curb. Hold that thought.

Kingstar Diesel Option 1 ($4,690) employs the Truma Combi D comfort plus combination heater and water heater and the Furrion FIH21G2A-BG double burner induction cooktop. Kingstar Diesel Option 2 ($8,330) starts with the Truma and Furrion units and adds a Wallas 76 D diesel oven.
To better understand these new diesel options and their implications, let’s dig into these individual components.
Truma Combi D comfort plus
About ten years ago, German manufacturer, Truma, introduced water heaters (Truma AquaGo), furnaces (Truma VarioHeat), and a combination water heater and furnace (Truma Combi eco plus). These units offered notable gains in efficiency and features. Of course, they were also significantly more expensive, but that’s often the price of progress.
The two-in-one heater and water heater Truma Combi eco plus has become something of a new truck camper marketplace standard for its space savings, efficiency, ability to run off propane and or electric, and quiet operation. A number of camper manufacturers switched to make the Truma Combi standard and it has performed well in the marketplace.
Hot on the heels of that success, Truma is now offering the Truma Combi D, a diesel-electric version of the popular Combi series. The Truma Combi D runs on diesel, electric, or mixed (diesel and electric) mode. And like its propane-powered cousin, the Combi D has three operating levels; Level 1: 7,500 BTU/h (2.2 kW), Level 2: 14,300 BTU/h (4.2 kW), and Level 3: 20,400 BTU/h (6 kW).
With the Truma Combi D, Kingstar eliminates two major propane appliances with one modern component.
Furrion Double Burner Induction Cooktop

For those who have yet to take the induction plunge, induction cooking is truly a revelation. By using direct electrical heating, induction cooktops are significantly faster than propane cooktops in reaching temperature and are remarkably efficient.
We have traveled with a single burner portable induction cooktop for years. Previously we used it whenever we had 110 volt shore power. Now with our lithium system, we haven’t used our propane cooktop in months. The next change for us is to remove our propane cooktop and oven; they’re gonzo.
For the propane-free conversion, Kingstar is using a Furrion double burner induction cooktop (model FIH21G2A-BG). This flush mount or portable unit features an auto safety shut-off, a hot surface indicator, and a child lock. Like most inductions, it draws 1,800 Watts at its highest setting. Based on my research of the Furrion, I’d like one in our camper.
Wallas 76 D Diesel Convection Oven
Wallas is not a brand we’ve run across in truck campers before, but they’ve been in operation for half a century. Based in Finland, Wallas manufactures diesel heaters, stoves, and ovens for the marine, RV, and cottage industries. Hey Kingstar, you should sponsor a Wallas factory visit for TCM. Hint. Hint.

Wallas touts numerous advantages to using diesel versus propane including ease of sourcing diesel fuel, quiet operation, high efficiency, and smaller space requirements. What caught my attention was the elegance of their products. Their Viking series heaters and the Wallas 76 D oven are simply gorgeous designs.
Kingstar has selected the Wallas 76 D diesel convection oven for the propane-free diesel option. This stainless steel, air-cooled unit uses standard diesel and can also use fossil-free diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil, or HVO). In addition to the main unit, the 76 D also uses a control panel that operates the oven from 3,400 to 10,200 BTUs. For those who enjoy baking a pizza in national parks and banana muffins on BLM, Kingstar has you covered.
New Luxe Package
In addition to the new diesel options, Kingstar is announcing a new Luxe Package ($6,690) for 2025 including brushed aluminum exterior siding, Tern Overland entry door, interior walnut counter, clock, cutting board, and a hat rack.
To showcase the new Luxe Package, Kingstar built a KRUZR 6 with the CA42 flatbed option and a 22-inch attached garage.
Talk about some serious eye candy. This camper is stunning inside and out.
I have to give props to Kingstar for the elegant hat racks (shown above). If you need proof that Kingstar is an innovative company, here’s one heck of a unique and clever hat rack for you. Hats off, Kingstar. Hats off.

Reyes and Deedra of Exploring Still Connected had the Tern Overland door retrofitted into their Kingstar camper and raved about the improvement over their previous friction hinge RV door when we saw them at Overland Expo West 2024. Specifically, they liked the security of the external door shell and the interior screen and powder-coated stainless-steel mesh. The mesh is said to be bear-proof, but we haven’t independently verified that.
Further security is afforded with the Tern Overland door’s two deadbolts and locking door latch. Finally, the deadbolt sucks the door in for a better seal against water and dust.

Huge New Lithium and Solar Options
This past July we published the results of our Big Battery Poll. From that poll, 14.7 percent of readers would want 1,000 Ah of lithium batteries for their dream battery bank. And you know who reads Truck Camper Magazine? Kingstar does.
For 2025, Kingstar is installing one Epoch 460 Ah lithium battery standard. You read that right. One battery, 460 Ah! Back to having issues with your eyebrow? Okay. You can add an additional Epoch 460 Ah lithium battery for 920 Ah. And if that’s not making your electron socks roll up and down, they will add a third Epoch 460 Ah battery for a total of 1,380 Ah!
That’s welding in the desert off-grid kind of power. That’s running your sticks and bricks house for a couple of days kind of power. That’s “Fire when ready, Commander!” kind of power. My eyebrow goes up and gets stuck as I laugh my best, Bru-ha-ha-ha! kind of power. Yes, please!
In addition to this obscene amount of lithium, Kingstar will install 1,000 watts of Zamp solar if you also select a KRUZR with the North/South Sleeping Bunk option ($1,990). The idea of driving around with 1,380 Ah of lithium and 1,000 watts of solar is totally bonkers, but Kingstar is ready to build that camper for you.
If you’d like to see these campers in person, the KRUZR 8/CA56 with the diesel package and the KRUZR 6/CA42 with the Luxe package will be at Overland Expo Mountain West in Loveland, Colorado this weekend in Booth #B400.
The KRUZR 8 with the Luxe package will be at the Overland America Expo in Jay, Oklahoma from September 13th-15th in Booth #1. The KRUZR 6 with the Luxe package will be at Overland Expo East in Arrington, Virginia from October 4th-6th in Booth #A61.
A New Kingstar Model Is Coming
We can’t spill the beans just yet, but Kingstar has a new model to announce this fall. All we can say is that it’s big. Really big.
