2022 Capri Retreat
I have a tiny Capri truck camper without much storage, let alone enough for bottles of booze. After a couple of long haul trips, we discovered three inches of empty space behind a panel and figured a bottle-specific booze cubby was more classy than wrapping our bottles in our dirty laundry.
We had a bunch of scrap plywood and walnut laying around our shop that was used for this mod project. First, we cut an opening in the existing plywood panel.
Then, we created the plywood box insert, painted the inside, trimmed it with black walnut, and finished it with Odie’s Oil.
So far, so good. It fits four standard booze bottles. We will need to cushion the bottles for overland adventures to avoid rattling.
We are considering buying a three-pack of hard plastic booze bottles.
Materials Used:
1/4 inch plywood
1/2 inch plywood
Scrap walnut
Paint
23 gauge pin nails
Pocket screws
Wood glue
Odie’s Oil finish
It took me four hours to complete this modification and cost me $40. In my opinion, the skill level of this modification is hard.
