The Eureka, as provided, is a bare bones utilitarian camper. There is some dedicated storage, but nothing whatsoever in the forward cabover area.

We needed a place to store and have access to items like cough drops, earplugs, Kleenex tissue, cell phones and any other nighttime sundries.

Bedside Storage Shelf Camper

The available space was dictated by the window’s height and the spaces between the edge of the queen mattress and the wall. The length was confined to a space dictated by the left over space after sliding the bed extension back over the top of the original bed platform. This meant that it would be nearly impossible to find any pre-made containers that would fit. This called for custom made bedside storage cubbies.

Glue And Clamp The Bedside Storage Shelf

Using 3/16-inch birch sheet and some left over wood, I used a circular saw and a cordless drill along with some screws and wood glue and made two storage cubbies.

Bedside Storage Shelf Construction

Each measures 21-inches long by 6-inches wide by 7-inches deep. The lids are recessed to allow a 1-inch raised border to keep items from rolling off when laid on top of the lid. The lids lift off for access.

They work perfect for the space available. A standard Kleenex box fits perfectly inside using about half of the space inside. The containers are simple, lightweight, and inexpensive.

Beside Storage Shelf Completed

It took me five hours to complete this modification and cost me $25.  In my opinion, the skill level of this modification is easy.
