FINAL VOTE: 2026 TCM Calendar Contest Finalists

The First Vote was a battlefield. 428 entered. Only 24 survived. Your new mission: pick your top 5. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and only you can finish the job. For the love of campers, vote now—before it’s too late!

2026 Calendar Final Vote

The moment has arrived. The 2026 Calendar finalists are in, and tensions are high. Did your first-round favorites survive the cut? Of the 24 photos that did, how is anyone supposed to choose just five? Each one is a knockout.

Let’s be honest. This isn’t your average everyday challenge. Navy SEAL training? Manageable. NASA’s centrifuge test? A quick turn. Removing a tailgate with an integrated camera cable? Damn near impossible, but you got it done. Narrowing 24 epic shots down to 5? Now that’s a mission that tests even the most seasoned truck camper pros.

Fortunately, truck campers aren’t ordinary. We’re not the pull-behind, plug-in-and-park, unpack the pancake mix, and whistle Dixie crowd. We’re off-road, off-grid, and way, way out there with our overland maps and think-we-know-where-we’re-going-so-stop-asking attitude that won’t quit.

So yes—it’s hard. It’s nearly impossible. But impossible is our comfort zone. Five from twenty-four? Bring it. We’ve got this, truck campers! The final vote starts now.

Check out the 2026 winners.

All 13 calendar winners will have their winning photograph and the story behind their photograph featured in the magazine.  The 13-winners will also receive a free 2026 Truck Camper Magazine Calendar.

Finalist voting starts now and ends Wednesday, October 29th at 11:59pm PST.  Here are the 24-finalists from the first calendar vote in numerical order:

The evening this photo was taken was the beginning of a snowstorm on Mt. Hood. Camping is allowed at Sno-parks in Oregon with a permit. We had the place to ourselves as the snow started to pile up. It was magical. Needed chains and 4wd to get out the next morning.

The national park folks instituted a permit system for this area last year and we had spent a quiet night without another soul in sight. In the morning, we drove our rig up to explore the old Inyo Mine. On the way back out, I looked up and saw the ‘Eye of the Needle’, which we had missed on our way in the day before. I immediately stopped the truck and walked back a few yards to take this picture. It had been windy the day before, but that morning, the air was still and the clear blue sky beckoned us for further exploration of this wondrous place.

Every summer, a few hundred amateur astronomers gather in the remote northeast corner of California to enjoy the night sky. People flock from all over the country with giant telescopes to share the stellar view, which is one of the darkest locations in the United States. This was my first year taking our new-to-us truck camper, and I outfitted it with red lights inside to preserve mine and everyone else's night vision — a strict rule of the star party.

A little sketchy, but you can do anything with a truck camper, right?

We were returning from the Arctic Ocean at Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, on the Dempster Highway on September 2nd. It is a long 500 miles each way on rough dirt roads. We pulled into a gravel pit (safe places to disperse camp, lots of them!) at 65°45′55″ N 137°53′54″ W. We cooked dinner, walked the dogs, and settled in for the night. Around midnight, it was still too much light. I poured another chocolate vodka, and about 1 am I looked out and the sky was blanketed by sheets of aurora. I set up the tripod with my Apple 14 Pro and let it choose the settings. I took several shots then went to bed, and the next day I saw this on my iPad. Humbling in a way, random luck.

One of the highlights of our journey was visiting Cathedral Valley, located in the northernmost part of Capitol Reef National Park. This area is remote and difficult to access, but its beauty is stunning. In this photo, we are entering the Temple of the Sun and Moon as the nearly full moon sets and the sun begins to rise. We boondocked legally just outside the park on BLM land, as boondocking isn't allowed within the park. Most truck campers can reach the Temple of the Sun and Moon via Cathedral Road, which is part of a 58-mile loop around Cathedral Valley. To complete the loop, you need to drive the more challenging Hartnet Road. This includes a river ford and a rough, slow road that passes by Bentonite Hills and beautiful desert scenery. Talking to the park ranger before our visit, the ranger mentioned that a Sprinter Van had overturned along Hartnet Road the previous year. I wouldn’t suggest this route for hard-sided campers. We spent two days driving the loop and stopping at all the sites. The first night was spent at the free, official park campground at the top of the valley, and the second night was on BLM land near the Temple of the Sun and Moon. The route is all dirt and gravel roads that can become impassable in bad weather. Check with park rangers before heading out.

I had been watching the weather all weekend for partly cloudy conditions to shoot a mountain scene up in the higher elevations of the backcountry near Yosemite National Park. The day of shooting worked out pretty well, starting out at sunrise with a steep scree field cross country hike to the location i was after. Once done with that shot, by late afternoon stormy conditions with showers started to roll in so it was time to get off the mountain and head down to find my camping spot for the night. Once at my camping spot, the storm clouds started to break up just enough to let some good light in during sunset time, capping off an awesome sunrise to sunset day out in the mountains.

I was inside working on dinner, when I noticed a weird light in the sky outside. I managed to snap a couple quick pictures of rocket and my rig while admiring the whole moment! For a bonus, the bright dot on the bottom right is Venus. If you're ever in the desert southwest, keep an eye on the SpaceX launch schedule from Vandenberg AFB, especially around sunset.
