Truck Camper Escapes Colorado Forest Fire

Long time Truck Camper Magazine reader, Rob Urban, contacted us last Friday with a harrowing story and photographs from the Black Forest Fire in Colorado that have to be seen to be understood.

Thank you Rob for sharing your experience.  We are thinking of you and your fellow Coloradans who have been affected by this tragedy.  Stay safe.

“I was in a mandatory evacuation area on Thursday and watched the Black Forest Fire burn thousands of acres, including my wife’s aunt’s home, to the ground.  I drove through the burn area at 8:00pm, as everything around me was burning, to see my wife’s aunt house was lost.

That was one of the most terrifying experiences of my life as I was driving my dually truck and 4,000 pound truck camper through narrow roads as everything around me was burning.  It was featured on CNN with Piers Morgan courtesy of home owner, Ted Robertson.  I thought I would enter these photos into the annual Truck Camper Magazine Calendar Contest.” – Rob Urban
