It’s time to find out what tire brand, model, and sizes you prefer for your truck camping truck. But first, we have a really good Falken story.
Last year Angela and I spent well over $800 on two front tires. We were in Grand Teton National Park when a cord broke inside one of our factory Nexan tires. The tire held, but created a pronounced vibration when we accelerated over thirty-five miles per hour. This was a problem we weren’t going to ignore or put off.
Heading south from the park, we pulled into Big O’ Tires in Jackson, Wyoming. They were the only shop in town with 235/80R17 tires in stock, and the selection wasn’t what we were hoping for. They had no Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires to match our rear tires and couldn’t get them in for an undetermined amount of time. All they had ready to go in our 235/80R17 size was Falken Wildpeaks.
I had heard of Falken tires, but had no idea if they were any good, much less worth the $800 price they were asking. After some quick internet research, the Falken feedback seemed positive so we bought the Falken tires. It was a bit hard to take that the same Falken Wildpeaks were $226 each online and we were about to pay $800 for two, but that was the Big O’ Falken price in Jackson. That’s life on the road.
Fortunately, the Falken Wildpeaks have been awesome. I believe they’re at least as good as our trusty Michelins and have considered going all Falken in when it’s time to upgrade our rear duallies.
Truck Camper Wheel and Tire Poll 2024
Eight years ago we conducted a tire poll suggested by readers Charlie Young and Kris Cassidy. The tire poll was a big hit with tons of positive reader feedback about how helpful the results were. We even chose our Michelin LTX A/T 2 tires based on that tire poll. They are excellent.
Well, tire models come and tires go, so we thought we’d see where everyone is with their wheels and tires in 2024. We wheely want to hear your tire’d story. And no, I’m not sorry for that.
