TCM Announces the Dirtiest Truck Camper Rig Contest

You went there, did that, and have the mud-splattered, dust-coated, snow and salt encrusted, bug-caked photos to prove it. Send us your dirtiest rig photos and the story behind the adventure. Who has the dirtiest rig ever? Let’s find out!

Dirtiest Truck Camper Contest

Over the years, our readers have sent hundreds of photos of truck campers buried in snow, caked in mud, coated in dust, streaked with road grime, and covered in the unmistakable proof of real truck camping. You know—dirty rigs!

And it got us thinking…

Wouldn’t it be fun for our readers to share their dirty camper photos?
Even better, wouldn’t it be fantastic to feature dirty truck camping photos with the stories behind those mind-altering, filthy images? Heck yeah!

Truck campers are built to go where other RVs can’t go: down washboard forest roads, across sandy beaches, through red rock two-tracks, and deep into the backcountry. And when you go down the trail far enough, your camper gets dirty!

We don’t want a little dusty. We want “What happened on that trip?” dirty.

But, here’s the part we’re most looking forward to, the stories behind these mud-splattered, snow and salt, dust-coated, sand-blasted, and bug-caked rigs. We want to read about how far you’ve gone and what you got yourself into.

First, where were you? The Dalton Highway? The Dempster? Valley of the Gods? A washed-out forest road after a thunderstorm? A cross-country drive coast-to-coast?

Then, what happened? Did you white-knuckle it through the backcountry in Utah? Camp in a surprise sandstorm in Arizona? Or drive on a dirt road during a rainstorm?

And finally, did you spend two hours at a car wash, power washing off the filth—one quarter at a time—afterward? They’ll never let you back in that place again!

We want the adventure that created the mess. We want the dirty details.
Bonus points if you include a before-and-after shot, a photo of the wash-off, or a shot of you grinning proudly next to your filthy rig.

A dirty truck camper isn’t neglect. It shows off what we do and where we go.

Once we get all the entries, we’ll share all the dirty rigs in an upcoming story so that you can all see each other’s dirty masterpieces. And since it’s a contest, we’ll be giving away a few truck camper T-shirts to the winners!

How dirty has your truck camper been? It’s time to show off your dirty rig!
