Ron Dalby’s, “Guide to the Alaska Highway” is a recommended book because it talks about what you need to do to prepare your vehicle for Alaska. For example, Ron talks about a screen wire over the radiator to keep gravel out. He also suggests a long list of items to bring along, but where do you draw the line on things to bring? I honestly didn’t take much more to Alaska than we would for a normal truck camping trip.
Bonus Tip: One thing I did on the camper before the trip was replace the water pump. Nothing was wrong with the old water pump, but it had been well used since I bought the camper in 2005. If the seven year old water pump had failed on the trip, it would have been a real problem.
