Mike Tassinari sent in the following update for the 2014 Travelers Woods North-East Truck Camping Jamboree.
“Onsite Jamboree registration will be open on Thursday July 24, 2014, from 3:00-5:00pm. At the registration table will be tickets for the solar panel drawing (more on that later), the 50/50 raffle, and the popular Saturday night raffle table ($20 for 40 tickets). The North-East Jamboree clothing line will also be available.
From 5:30pm to 7:30pm, will be the dessert meet and greet at the pavilion. Paper goods and utensils will be provided. Please include a recipe or a list of ingredients for the food allergy folks.
After the dessert gathering will be a campfire. Bring a chair and beverage and join us at the fire ring. We will fire up the popcorn machine once again.
If you haven’t registered already, registration will also be open on Friday morning from 8:00am to 10:00am at Cathie and Mike’s site.
Friday at 9:00am starts our horseshoe tournament. The campground has two horseshoe pits and we have them for the weekend. Depending on how many sign up, we can do a singles or double tournament or both. So, who is very good at horseshoe throwing?
From 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Friday, rally attendees are invited to visit to Truck Camper Warehouse in West Chesterfield, New Hampshire. Truck Camper Warehouse is the largest truck camper dealer on the East Coast and is only twenty miles north on I-91. Northstar, Eagle Cap, Northern Lite, Chalet, CampLite, Arctic Fox, and Wolf Creek campers will be on display at the dealership. Go and indulge yourself and check out the newest floor plans and features these manufacturers offer.
From 5:30pm to 6:30pm will be supper. In the past, we have brought you hot dogs. We have brought you hamburgers. We have even brought you Boboli pizzas. Now we are bring to you (drum roll please) The Walking Taco. We thank Cheryl Lane who brought us this yummy and somewhat different way of making a taco. We will supply all the fixings to make your Walking Taco, plus sodas and whatever paper goods are needed.
At 6:30pm we will roll out the freezer and scoop out vanilla and/or chocolate ice-cream. There is no charge for this event. After dinner will be a campfire and we will fire up the popcorn machine once again.
Saturday starting at 10:00am we will be making the truck camper version of the Pennsylvania Dutch Hex signs. Each crafter will receive a ten inch disc, markers, paint, paintbrushes, patterns, and encouragement.
At 1:00pm there will be a truck camper insurance seminar. Linda Roussey, who lives in Connecticut, is going to give a presentation on truck camper insurance. This seminar will be held in the pavilion.
Torklift International and the North-East Truck Camping Jamboree challenge you to guess the weight of the new, Talon Camper Tie Downs. This Guess the Weight program will be running for all five Jamborees and the winner will be revealed at the Recompence Shore Campground in Freeport Maine in November 2014. Come by at 1:30pm to make your guess.
At 3:00pm we will have BINGO in the pavilion.
The Saturday evening buffet dinner will begin at 5:30pm in the pavilion. Come join your fellow campers at the pavilion for what most say is the highlight of a North-East Truck Camping Jamboree. Bring one recipe of food to the buffet tables and see just what your fellow campers have cooked up. Please include a recipe or a list of ingredients for the food allergy folks. We will supply all the dinnerware, utensils, and paper goods.
Right after dinner, the raffles begin for the Solar Panel drawing, the 50/50 raffle, and the Raffle Table drawing. We do accept all donations for our raffle table drawings.
Each Jamboree for 2014 will have a solar panel finalist and all five finalists will be entered into a grand drawing at the Recompence Shore Campground Jamboree on November 6th-9th, 2014. The total value of this drawing is approximately $670 and installation is not included. Tickets are on sale all weekend for $10.00 per ticket with the drawing on Saturday evening.
On Sunday morning we will have a farewell breakfast in the Pavilion from 7:30am to 9am. Come to the pavilion and enjoy all the breakfast fixings our talented chefs have cooked. Coffee, juices, sausages, bacon, and french toast will be provided. I would like to thank Dana and Beth Cheyne of MCD R/V Center of West Yarmouth, Massachusetts who are sponsoring the North-East Truck Camping Jamboree 2014 breakfasts.”
At this time there are campground sites left. Please contact Mike Tassinari at [email protected] to reserve your spot and sign-up for this July Jamboree.
