The Soaring Eagle Aerie hard side non-slide was easily one of the most impressive truck camper debuts of 2024. The refined production version is even better!
This will sound like hyperbole, but I assure you, it’s not. At the annual industry-only, industry-wide open house in Elkhart last September, the Soaring Eagle Aerie was the truck camper talk of the show. We personally witnessed one major truck camper dealer sit down to express how impressed he was. Later, we heard from several others who had been equally dazzled.
Of course, those same dealers—and certain Truck Camper Magazine publishers—had some feedback on that initial prototype. How about a sink in the bathroom? Maybe some tweaks to improve the storage? The Soaring Eagle team was all ears and delighted with the positive and constructive feedback.
We finally got our eyes on the resulting production Soaring Eagle Aerie at Overland Expo PNW. Immediately, it was obvious that the Soaring Eagle team had listened to the feedback and taken the Aerie to the next level.
Let’s back up a bit. In late 2024, Soaring Eagle introduced the Aerie, its first hard-side, non-slide truck camper with a fully self-contained wet bath. This was their first fully-appointed wet bath truck camper, representing a huge and impressive swing at the traditional truck camper market.
The big standout addition of the production Aerie is the bathroom sink. This was our number one suggestion, and likely the number one recommendation from dealers last fall. The sink is small, circular, and stainless steel—perfect for brushing teeth and washing hands. In other words, they got it exactly right both in size and style. Nailed it.
Beyond the sink, we saw minor but important refinements throughout the unit. For a first-generation product, the floor plan, amenities, storage, and overall interior presentation are right on target for anyone who wants a highly practical, thoroughly modern, and all-aluminum and composite-structured truck camper.
Standard specs include a 28-gallon fresh tank, a 13-gallon grey tank, a single 100 Ah lithium battery (expandable to 400 Ah total), and one 20‑pound propane tank. A basement houses the tanks, battery storage, and a 60-inch by 20-inch pull-out storage tray.
The unit is fully insulated and heated with ducting from a standard Truma Combi furnace. Other systems include dual-pane thermal windows, electric jacks, 160-watts of solar (option for more), and an air conditioner.
From our conversations with Soaring Eagle and the dealers who have Aerie models in stock, this is a new camper to watch. Soaring Eagle has also hinted that additional Aerie models are in development. Look out, truck camper industry. The Aerie is taking off.
