At Host’s Overland Expo PNW booth, there was a very important vote taking place. Unbeknownst to the show attendees, their choices were heard loud and clear. Survey says: The new peninsula is a winner!
You might think the industry just goes to RV shows and Overland Expos simply to sell truck campers. After saying, “Howdy! What kind of truck do you have?” they’re just there pushing product and waiting for show hours to end—right? Not so fast.
They’re listening, watching, and observing. What show attendees do and what they say is all being absorbed as valuable feedback. Which campers got the most foot traffic? Which feature got the most, “Hey, this is neat!” Which did not. All of it is documented and brought back to the leadership and design teams at HQ, and processed for future changes and improvements.
Randall Pozzi of Host Campers was running something of an informal poll at Overland Expo PNW. With the all-new Center Kitchen floor plan on display side-by-side with the passenger’s side kitchen floor plan—both triple-slide Host models—he asked attendees a simple question. “Which do you prefer?”
Little did the showgoers know this was a very important query. If the new Center Kitchen was a flop, Host’s leadership may have scaled back their plans, or at least curtailed their marketing push.
The result: a near 50-50 split. The Center Kitchen was a hit.
We, too, were impressed with the new Center Kitchen. The wide-open floorspace available in triple-slide truck campers never fails to impress us, but the counter space, storage, and functionality of the Center Kitchen appealed to our more practical side. This is the floor plan direction we would go if choosing from Host’s triple-slide offerings.
Exploring the rest of the unit, the monster dry bath with its full-size shower, toilet leg room to spare, and upper cabinet storage is phenomenal. The hallways leading to the cabover on both sides of the center peninsula—his and hers?—has nothing less than a residential feel.
And the sofas and/or recliner seating? Forget-about-it! This is the kind of comfort and luxury we almost label as cheating. I mean, who gets to truly lounge in a truck camper? Is this even legal? We’re gobsmacked.
The Host Center Kitchen is the first new floor plan update since Host was acquired by new owners Duane Stevens and Duane Walker in May 2025. In our conversations with the new owners, their first goal is to maintain and improve quality. We saw that in the campers on display at Expo PNW and later at the factory.
That stated, we hope they continue to push their floor plans and launch new and exciting options. The new peninsula is a winner.
