Question Of The Week

Truck Campers Name Their Rigs

From fun, to funny, to down right outrageous, TCM readers reveal their truck and camper names.  Warning: Major snarf alert.  Do not drink coffee when reading this.

One of the many pleasures of publishing Truck Camper Magazine is never knowing what to expect in response to a particular question of the week.  It’s also a bit of a high wire.  Imagine personally emailing an open question to a few thousand people and you get the idea.

This week we asked, “Does your truck and/or camper have a name?”  We thought it was an innocent enough question.  After all, how nutty can naming a truck and camper get?  Probably half the readers named their camper Fred or Skippy, right?

Well, not so much.  As you’re about to read, our truck camping community is chock full of total knuckleheads.  As a fellow knucklehead, I understand the proclivity to nuttiness, but we had no idea how prevalent this affliction was, until now.  Brace yourselves!

camper name yertle turtle

“Since I was a kid, I was crazy about turtles/tortoises.  My sister and I loved Dr. Seuss stories.  I had pet box turtles as a youngster, and my first one, and longest in captivity, was Yertle.

Since we carry our house on the back of our truck, the turtle connection seemed obvious.  And, since the most famous turtle to my generation was Yertle, and I found an artist willing to do the graphic decal, our Yertle was born.

To today’s generation, and with a nod to the TCM Weight Police, maybe Crush from Finding Nemo would be even more appropriate for our rather hefty Chalet Ascent.  And who can deny that Crush wouldn’t be a cool graphic as well!” – John and Marylou Wells, 2011 Chevy 3500, 2012 Chalet Ascent S100F

“Destination Unknown.” – Paul LaMonte, 1999 Ram 2500, 2005 Lance Lite

“Rob and Sandy’s Passion Pit.  It is like a motel room on wheels.” – Rob Abear, 2015 Ford F350, 2015 Arctic Fox 990

camper name duarte

“Beach Truck II – The Roman Numeral II is because my 2008 Ford F250 was called 4X4 Beach Truck and was heavily modified in many aspects.  It even had an air brushed beach scene with “4X4 Beach Truck” on both rear quarters.

When I traded it in for the 2015, my wife insisted that I keep this truck (relatively) unmodified.  I Photoshopped a couple of nice pictures of our beach, added some text, and had vinyl installed on the camper.  The entire outside front of the main bed area is an aerial view of the beach with the words, Beach Truck II.  It came out great and really looks better than a factory logo.” – Jim Duarte, 2011 Ford F350, 2013 Eagle Cap 850

“Our camper is named Anderson Funhouse, because of the AF logo on the front of the camper.” – Eric and Linda Anderson, 2001 Dodge 3500, 2013 Arctic Fox 990

“We have a ‘Lance On A Ford’ – so our rig is called LOAF, and our blog is called LOAFin Around!” – Helen O’Kane, 2011 F350 Lariat, 2013 Lance 855S

camper name carlin

“We’ve only been truck camping for a few months.  An Alaskan cabover was the only truck camper that we considered.  From the very beginning we always thought of the camper as our house that we carried on our back, hence, ‘our turtle’.  We soon found out that other truck campers were referred to as turtles, too.  Our Alaskan is Trixie the Turtle and she rides on Sam the Ram.” – Fran and David Carlin, 2014 Dodge Ram 3500, 1988 Alaskan 8’

“It’s the Camper Inn.  I named it that because camping out is backpacking.  My wife’s trail name is Red Robin, and she through-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2014.  That’s camping out!” – Phil Jones, 2002 GMC Sierra, 2013 Northstar Laredo

“TajMaHut II.  Alcohol was involved in the naming of the original TajMaHut, a 1998 Holiday Rambler bumper pull.” – Jeff Yarborough, 2005 Dodge 3500, 2009 Lance 915

“Josephine.  My mother, when amused by our antics, or when she found us particularly trying but in an endearing way, would say, “Okay Josephine!”  Why she did this was never explained.  There were no friends named Josephine in her life.  We think that our impatient Grandmother called our Mom that whenever our Grandfather (named Joe or Joseph) protected or coddled her.

Mom remained mysterious about the name’s meaning but, to me, it always meant I was being a tad too independent.  Since I travel alone, I think it very fitting.” – Michèle McLeod, 2013 F150 HD, 2000 Travel Hawk 9.5

camper name scott

“We call our truck and camper The Camp Truck.  When we started truck camping, this is what always came out when our daughter was trying to say truck camper.” – Scott, Nicole and Natalie Polish, 2011 Ford F350, 2013 Northstar Laredo

“We call our camper Shadow partly because it shadows the truck and partly because it’s a Shadow Cruiser.  The truck is just Dually because it’s a 3500 dually and we have another Chevy.  I had a Ford named Henry, and sometimes had names that can’t be printed.  The Toyota FJ Cruiser we tow is FJ.” – Cheryl Nelson, 2004 Chevy Duramax 3500, 1990 Hard side Shadow Cruiser 9.5

“I modified our new truck camper so that it would comfortably sleep my wife and two young daughters.  After all the hours I put in customizing it and making it feel homey, I thought we would name it something from the princess world.  But right after our first camping trip my two toddler daughters named the truck camper, Stinky Sock.” – Brian Cohen, 2004 Nissan Titan, Bel Air over cab shell

“Brutus The Mobile Man Cave.  It’s the go anywhere truck camper and I’m a big Ohio State Fan.” – Scott Ridgway, 2003 Dodge 2500, 2012 Lance 1050S

“Last summer, while on a trip to Colorado, my sons and I stopped in to tour the Phoenix Camper factory in Denver and met Rob and Cari Rowe.  This tour started our search for a used Phoenix Camper for my older sons 2004 Toyota Tacoma.

This past winter we purchased a Phoenix Camper off Craigslist.  I spent most of the winter restoring and customizing the interior as it was just a shell unit.

At the time of the tour we had no idea that people were naming their Phoenix campers.  My son has a way of naming his possessions like bicycles, etc; and now his camper.  He had already named his truck Otis and decided that Linus was a good name for the camper.” – Bill Modell, 2004 Toyota Tacoma, 2000 Phoenix

camper name chambers

“We call our rig the Mobile Mansion.  We had been using a cargo van for camping over the past ten years with an air mattress and a small porta-potty, so our new camper with all of its features is truly a mansion for us.” – Greg Chambers, 2015 GMC 3500, 2015 Lance 855S

“My rig was called Tortoise because my green Tundra carried her and my house on her back.  Sorry to say that I had to sell her because my arthritis got worse and I could no longer pop up the roof.  Now I’m back to tent camping and rambling around in Burrito, my Subaru Forester.” – Lori Markoff, 2012 Toyota Tundra, 2012 Phoenix Camper

“Jack, for the obvious reason of the four jacks.  The obscure reason is that I have a college friend with a Bigfoot Class C that he calls Fred.  He explained that he named his Class C Fred because it’s a ‘front end diesel’.  It just so happens that his name is Jack and my name is Fred.” – Frederic Williamson, 2013 Ford F350, 2013 Lance 1050S

camper names bigfoot

“Simple, we call it The Bigfoot.” – Peter Terstall, 2008 Ford F450, 2001 Bigfoot 30C10.11SL

“Since I was young, I’ve always had names for my rides.  Naming my rides makes them feel close and personal to me.  Sometimes it takes a while to find the right name, other times it comes quick.

When we got our truck and camper last year, the name came after our fist camping trip poking around the back roads of the Chilcotin area in British Columbia.  We now very fondly call our set up “goat + turtle”.” – Debbie, 2008 Ford F-350, 2009 Northern Lite Q 8-11SE

camper names kiel hauler

“We’re the Kiel Hauler mentioned in the intro.  The name was really a no-brainer.  Our last name is Kiel and David recently retired after thirty years in the Navy.  Anyone in the navy or a history buff will catch the reference.  But for everyone else, keelhauling is a form of punishment meted out to sailors at sea.  The sailor was tied to a line that looped beneath the vessel, thrown overboard on one side of the ship, and dragged under the ship’s keel, either from one side of the ship to the other, or the length of the ship (from bow to stern).  You were hmmmm, not expected to survive!  Through the years, we’ve frequently referred to our vehicles as the Kiel Hauler so, when we got the camper, we just decided to make it official!  It was just fun.” – Jennifer Kiel, 2007 Toyota Tundra, 2012 Phoenix custom

“My truck is named, Hi Old Silver! (away) and my camper is named Tom’s Dog House (complete with carved wood name plate).  The truck is a beautiful light silver metallic color, and my camper earned its name when I traded our 38-foot Alfa Gold fifth Wheel in and downsized.  My wife was/is furious with me, and thus the name.” – Tom Miner, 2004 Dodge Ram 3500, 2005 Host Yukon 11.5 SS

“Sure I have named them, The Truck and The Camper.  Original, ‘eh?  However, I do sometimes reference the Lance as my Really Nice Camper, in reference to a scene in the Tom Hank’s movie, That Thing You Do.

http://www.hark.com/clips/cxyzhrxrck-im-signing-youre-signing-were-all-signing” – Mark Obert, 1999 Ford F250SD, 1999 Lance 920

“Al.  After our purchase, a good friend was visiting and looked out the window and stated, “Al is waiting to go camping, let’s go.”  Al stands for Aluminum Lodge.” – Tim Peterson, 1996 Chevy 3500, 1996 Lance 11.3

camper name moonspun goodrich

“I grew up around boats as a sea scout and sea explorer, sailing everything from 8-foot dinghies to 72-foot racing yachts.  The first thing we always did with a new boat was name her.  And tradition requires that a hailing port be included.

Cindi and I came to truck camping from sailing our 42-foot sailboat, Moonspun, around the Pacific.  When we got the camper, we kept tradition alive by naming her Moonspun, with a hailing port of Groveland, California.

You cannot believe what a conversation starter this has been, from, “I’ve never heard of a Moonspun camper,” to once someone chasing us down in Utah because they saw the hailing port.  They were from a nearby town and recognized the name of our obscure little town near Yosemite National Park.

We’ve encouraged all who might listen to name their RV.  After all, you wouldn’t let your new boat get by without a name.” – Jim and Cindi Goodrich, 2006 Chevy Silverado 3500, 2008 Lance 1191

camper names comfort

“Jerry’s Dog House.  I went from a 31-foot motorhome to a small truck camper.  It can sometimes be my place of solitude.” – Jerry Comfort, 2012 Ford F150, 2013 White Water

“My truck’s name is Maxine after the Duramax.  Since it is my truck, it’s a girl’s name.  I give her a good pat on the dash every time we come through a situation and when she turns another 10,000 miles.

My camper is BluJae named after my two yellow labs, Skylar Blu and Jacy Jae.  It means a lot to me now that my Skylar has passed.” – Sue Surateaux, 2002 Chevy Silverado 2500, 2008 Arctic Fox 811

name camper williams

“I call my truck, My Dream Truck, because, well, it is.  I used to call my camper, The P.O.S., (piece of you know what), before I put a bunch of work into it (new rubber roof, air conditioner, etc), but now I call it “The Man Cave” because of a sign I found in Arizona on Route 66 headed to the Grand Canyon with the family.  It is the ‘Man Cave Rules’ sign.  Have you seen it?” – Robert Williams, 2012 GMC 3500HD, 1994 Caribou 10’6″

camper names waters

“The truck’s name is Big Bubba.  Being a 4X4 long bed, four door pick-up, it is big and goes just about anywhere!  The camper is Grandpa’s Treehouse because it is where the grandsons and I hang out when they visit.  The two youngest grandsons recently spent a week with my wife and I at our cabin in the White Mountains of Arizona.  Even though we had a bedroom set up for them, the boys and I slept in the camper most nights!” – Tom Waters, 2003 Dodge 2500, 2014 Four Wheel Camper Grandby Model

“We named it Jayco because it is original and nearly unique in Germany.  I know of three of them in our country.  The truck is named Teddy for two reasons.  The former owner´s name was Ted and one permanent passenger is a traveling Teddy bear with his backpack.” – Manfred Klement, Ford F250, 1992 Jayco Sportster 8ft pop-up rebuilt in 2015

“The camper has been named The Hut because it reminds us of a hut in compactness.  The Airstream is called Toaster because it reminds us of a shiny Toaster.” – Bob Cooke, 2002 Dodge 2500, 1966 Avion C-10 truck camper, and a 1970 25-foot Airstream Land Yacht

“Our camper bears the name El Rucio, which translates from Spanish to The Grey or dapple.  The truck is named from Sancho Panzas’ burro in Don Quixote.  Our truck is grey and we drive slowly.” – Paul Peterson, Ford 2004 F250, 2002 Lance 835

“Our truck is silver metallic, the color of smoke, so his name is Smokey.  The truck camper doesn’t get a name.” – George Visconti, 2015 GMC Sierra 3500HD, 2016 Arctic Fox 990

“It’s not too original, but we call her T.C.  The acronym stuck after calling her the truck camper for a year.” – Shelley Pike, 2009 Ford F350, 2006 Lance Sportster

“The camper’s name is BunFest Express II.  The name is displayed on all four sides of the camper.  The name comes from a gathering of bunnies and bunny owners which is called a BunFest.  This is our second truck camper, the first one was just called BunFest Express.” – Richard Balling, 2008 F-250, 2007 Bigfoot 25C94

“We love Our Little House.  Why?  It’s our second home.” – Stan and Kathy Smith, 2005 Ford F-350, 2006 Alpenlite Santa Fe 1150

“I call it the Turtle Hard Shell on the back of the truck.” – Philip Davidson, 2015 Chevrolet 3500HD, 2001 Lance 1010

camper name nadon

“Goliath is the name of my truck.  My previous truck was a 2000 Tacoma XCab.  I’m a newbie in truck camping world and I knew that I had to get a bigger truck to carry the kind of camper I was looking for.  I found a good deal camper a few weeks after I got the truck.  So Goliath is much bigger than my previous Tacoma.  Oki is the name of the camper.  My wife believes that Goliath and Oki make a real nice couple.  Cheers!” – Roch Nadon, 2007 Toyota Tundra, 2007 Okanagan 89WS

“We call our truck Tiny because it’s a 4×4 dually diesel with a 4-inch lift and 19.5 tires.  It was a nickname from our grandson when he climbed in for his first ride.  Of course the camper is a Bigfoot so we hit the road with Tiny and Bigfoot.” – Phil McEachen, 2000 Ford 350, 1998 Bigfoot 30C1011

“Our unit is named Vardo.  A vardo is a British Romani gypsy caravan.  We thought it was an appropriate name given its intended use to travel throughout Canada and the States during our summers off from teaching nursing.” – Micky Antoniazzi, 2011 Ram 3500 SLT, 2003 Lance 1161

“The red pickup is Big Red, so the camper is The Shed with a Bed and a Head in the Back of Big Red.” – Don Udelson, 2004 Chevy 2500 HD, 2005 Sun-Lite 955 SD

“I named the Lance, “George is in the dog house again”.  When I was shopping for my first camper, my dog, Kayah, got away from me.  I found her sleeping in the dinette of a Lance, so I bought it and told her, “It’s your new house.  I’ll just drive it for you.” – George Armenteros, 2015 Ram 3500, 2002 Lance 920, and 2011 Chalet DS116RB

“We named our camper Tar Trekking Clingon even though we go off-road a fair bit.  We get quite a few smiles from passing motorists when they put two and two together.” – Chris and Linda Smith, Ford Ranger, 2008 Adventurer 76R

camper name house

Our truck and camper’s name is Xplor.  That’s what we do with her.” – Steve and Jennifer House, 2015 Dodge 3500, 2010 Eagle Cap 1050

“We took delivery of our camper on Friday the 13th so, naturally, we had to name it Jason.  Our truck took a little longer to figure out.  I wanted Freddie for Freddie Kruger but my husband said that it needed to be a female’s name.  He suggested Lizzie for Lizzie Borden, but I didn’t like Lizzie.  My husband has a long standing obsession with Lizzie from Halestorm.  So we started playing around with the initials, L.B. became Elby.  So our truck is name Elby.

Our previous set up was a fifth wheel.  The truck was Edwina and the fifth wheel was Jimmy.  Poor Edwina was always getting rode hard by Jimmy.  We finally gave her a break after ten years.” – Pam Conner, 2015 Ford F350, 2015 Arctic Fox 1150

“We named it Seemore as it will allow us to see more of the USA.” – Bill and Terri Carroll, 2003 Chevrolet Silverado, 2010 Eagle Cap 950

camper names god s grace

“My campers name is God’s Grace.  I’ve been homeless for five years due to the economic crash in 2009.  A friend gave me the truck in July of this year.  Two weeks later I managed to scrape and save up enough to purchase the camper from a local dealer.  It is my house and live in it full time.

I’m looking forward to many years of fun and travel with it.  Hopefully I will get my dream truck and camper in the not too distant future.  I truly love it and enjoy this type of living in truck campers.  It’s quite versatile.” – DuWayne Hermann, 1996 Ford, 1993 Fleetwood Elkhorn

camper name nemesis

“If I had one, Pangolin would be its name.” – Kevin Pinassi, Ford F350, 2016 Alaskan 8’6”

“After we purchased our truck in 2012 my wife, Caite, wanted to name it like she has with every other vehicle we have owned.  A co-worker’s young son heard Caite say this and instantly called the truck Toby.  It has remained the same.  After we purchased the truck camper we named it TJ, short for Toby Jr.” – Glenn Blount, 2012 Ford F350, 2004 Lance 1010

“Yes, its name is Camp Find It.  Hopefully, when I head out for some down time, people can’t find it.  It’s a little play on words.” – Bob Walsh, 2013 GMC 3500, 2003 Bigfoot C25 10.6E

“Our camper doesn’t have a name, but our truck does.  His name is Moe, because he’s Moe truck than most!” – Ed Amato, 2000 Ford F350, 2015 Northern Lite 10-2 EX RR

“Snail” – Chris Hansen, 2012 Ford F150, 2012 Northstar Laredo SC

name camper thalman

“We have always found it fun to name our vehicles.  Sometimes the names stick and sometimes not.  Because we have a car, a Jeep, and a truck; the names have to be fun enough to get past just calling them the car, the Jeep, and the truck.

Our previous Ram was a big part of our family for over sixteen years and came to be known as Mr. Ram.  When we brought our new Ram home, it seemed a matter of resect to our retired warhorse to call the new Ram something different.

Enter our truck camper.  It is a Northstar and that kicked us into a celestial theme.  We didn’t expend many creative juices naming our new truck camper, Northstar.

My 20-year Navy career featured hunting for Russian submarines aboard a Navy P-3C Orion.  Orion, the Hunter, has always been my favorite constellation.  So, the truck became Mr. Orion and we were fortunate to be able to register it and have a Virginia license plate with that name.

Our mated unit needed a bigger name than stars and constellations, so Galaxy it became.  It has taken us now to many places far, far away.” – Dave and Carolyn Thalman, 2013 Ram 2500, 2013 Northstar 850SC

“We live in camping country that is inhabited with grizzlies in the summer.  When we upgraded from tenting to the camper, we felt protected and elegant.  Although it is not terribly inventive, we named the camper after its manufacturer, Lance.  It’s short for Sir Lancelot.” – Heather Peacock, 1999 Ford F250, 2003 Lance 835

“Foxy and The Beast for the Arctic Fox and the Ram.  I have a fun, for me, habit of naming the toys. My Camp Inn tear drop trailer was named Le Droppe.  My Polaris RZR XPik was named Nellie, and my new Polaris ACE 900 will be name Li’l Nell (smaller buggy).  I have an artist do decals for them and I call them my assistants.  While the truck won’t have one, the camper will.  It’s fun and puts a silly smile on my face from time to time, and that’s important at times.” – Frank Poole, 2016 Ram 5500, 2016 Arctic Fox 990

name camper crews

“I named my truck Rocinantes, in honor of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (and John Steinbeck).” – Doyle Crews, 2012 Ford F550, 2015 Eagle Cap 1165

“While preparing for our journey this year, the spouse made a comment about something I had or hadn’t done and said I was in the ‘Dog House’.  I retorted that it was where I was headed and promptly went to the truck camper.  We laughed about that and the name ‘Dog House’ stuck.

As for our truck, being a dually, we refer to it as Big Butt and the spouse’s winter vehicle is Hoot because of the manufacturer’s emblem.” – Chuck Ramsey, 2012 Chevy Silverado 3500, 2014 Adventurer 116DS

name camper usher

“I’ve owned boats and campers for many years, but only recently found out that it is customary to name your RV.  So mine is called Big Dog since my traveling partner has four paws and weighs 182 pounds.” – Gary Usher, 2015 Ford F350, 2015 Lance 1172

“Sure it does!  We call it either New or Northstar Arrow 8.5.  LOL!” – Nick Rukavina, 2015 Ford F350, 2015 Northstar Arrow 8.5

“We named our camper Christopher after St. Christopher, the patron of travelers.  Christopher has taken on a personality with the 6,000 miles he has traveled on all our adventures; he is protecting us!” – Pattie Cimaglia, 2011 Ford 350, 2011 Lance 1191

name camper murray

“The rig is called the Freight Train by my wife.  I pull a 14-foot trailer and, with the 6-speed transmission behind the mighty Cummins, it’s kind of ponderous in traffic!” – Jim Murray, 2003 Dodge 3500, 2013 Lance 855

name camper schwandt

“Rusty Lode IV.  Yes, that is the correct spelling.

In 1990 I bought my first new Class 8 Peterbilt.  The previous two trucks were purchased used.  Being a big WWII history buff – mainly the 8th Air Force in the ETO – I decided to name the truck in honor of the WWII “Greatest Generation”.  These men are and always have been since childhood, my heroes.

I chose Rusty Lode, the name of a B-17 in the 8th that had flown 52 missions over Europe.  Having been shot up badly several times, it had survived to return it’s crew safely back to England.  At the end of the war, it was ferried back to the states only to be scrapped in the 60s at Altus, Oklahoma.  I read about this plane in the book “Munster: The Way it Was”.  The pilot’s name was Sabers, and he was still alive at that time.

For the next three trucks, two Petes and a Kenworth W900, I had custom lettered the same name with continuing numbers.  The Kenworth I had spec’d with Rusty Lode stamped into the muffler guards, an option from Kenworth that allowed this to replace the OEM Kenworth that was standard on the W900.  All my rigs were brown or tan in color with contrasting fenders and stripes.

My new Ram 3500 is Western Brown pearl coat with white gold lower trim and pinstripe. We just got our Lance 1181 a month ago and I have not had a chance to have the lettering put on the Ram yet.” – David Schwandt, 2015 Ram 3500, 2011 Lance 1181

“Don Voyage.” – Donald Kingfield, 2008 GMC 2500HD, 2008 Lance 861 S

“Armadillo is her name.  She has taken us from Key West, Florida, to Homer, Alaska, to San Diego, California, to St. John, Newfoundland.” – Sylvie and Jake Mathis, 1994 Dodge Ram 2500, Northern Lite 9CQ

“I did not have a name for it until this question was asked.  So, I needed to come up with something.  I will now call it The Millennium Falcon originating from Cedar Falls, Iowa.  Also, the Fletched Dodge, and Me and my Arrow.” – Frank Kaye, 2005 Dodge 3500, 2008 Northstar Arrow

“Yes our truck camper had a name.  It’s Impromptu 2!  The last truck camper was Impromptu 1.  Our 1050S is Impromptu 2 because it’s ready to take us anywhere anytime at the drop of a hat.  Webster defines Impromptu as ‘made, done on, or formed as if on the spur of the moment’.  We travel on the spur of the moment sometimes.” – Mike Chiles, 2015 Ram 3500, 2013 Lance 1050S

“Nothing special here.  We just call it the camper.” – Ron Williams, 1997 Ford F250, 2003 Lance 1010

“Hut.” – Rick, 2003 Dakota, 2015 Palomino

“Amazingly, our truck camper doesn’t have name but the new-to-us fifth wheel does.  When we first got it, George couldn’t remember the brand so he called it See-more.  We will be seeing more of North America next year in it as we take my mother along on our big adventure.

Our truck is named Whitey because it is a white truck.  All of our vehicles have names except the truck camper.  Poor truck camper.  Now I guess we need to come up with a name for it so it doesn’t feel neglected.” – Sally Stomberg and George Brown, 2006 Ford F550, 2006 Lance 1191 and 2008 Surveyor Fifth Wheel

“Tyne Travler.” – John Tyne, Between truck campers

“Our truck camper is called the Baby Dance.  Our first rig was a 1996 Winnebago Sundancer.  She was called The Dance.  After she was totaled in an accident, we moved to a 1999 Winnebago Adventurer 34 footer.  She was nicknamed The Big Dance.  Of course, The Baby Dance was a natural name for the truck camper.

The truck’s name is Donna.  There is no real reason for that name.  She is what we refer to as our Big Girl.” – Denise Schad , 2011 Ford F450, 2005 Arctic Fox 1150

“I have no name for the truck, but I do call the camper The Fox.” – Bob Vea, 2003 Chevrolet 3500, 2003 Arctic Fox 1140

name camper albaugh

“We have named our camper Alice.  ALICE stands for Albaugh’s Incredible Camping Experience!

We enjoy truck camping very much and have really had some amazing experiences in Alice!  We always take our yellow lab, Sophie.  Group camping with our daughter and her family, and of course the grandkids, are always really Incredible Camping Experiences!” – Jack Albaugh, 1999 Ford F-250, 2012 Wolf Creek 850

“The Porta-Party.  We realized we are too old to be tent campers sleeping on the ground and taking nature hikes in the middle of the night.  So when we finally became RVers it started out as porta potty, but the party thing fits our style!” – Dan and Christina Kistler, 2015 Chevy 2500HD, 1999 Lance 1010

“Our Northern Lite has the same name as our former old Lance.  It is our Escape Pod.” – Keith and Nancy Rivers

“Our truck is named Delomax, our last name is Delo and it’s a Duramax.  Sometimes she’s Maxine.

Last weekend we power tripped to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan via the Lake Michigan Car Ferry (The Badger) and picked up a new to us 2005 Adventurer 90 RDS.  As of right now she’s unnamed.  We are taking her out this weekend for our first adventure.  We are so excited!

We have had two previous pop up truck campers, a fifth wheel, two bumper pulls and a pop up pull behind.  All had choice names, not suitable for print.  Our most recent pop-up truck camper was a 2015 Palomino 1251, which we called Modify as it seems every time we took it out, we found something to modify to make it more user friendly for us.

We can’t wait for the new adventures waiting for us with the hard side.  We’ve put over 20,000 miles combined in the last two and a half years in the pop-up truck camper, so I’m sure we will surpass that with the new one.” – Cindi Delo, 2002 Chevy K2500 Duramax, 2005 Adventurer 90 RDS

“Our truck is Da Beast and our camper is Beauty.  So we have Beauty and Da Beast.  I named the truck Da Beast first because of its capacity and engine torque, so it made sense to us to name the truck camper Beauty.” – James Comperchio, 2013 Ram 3500 CTD, 2015 Northstar 850SC

“Our camper’s name is the Cozy Coop.  After more than 30 years of all styles of camping from the motorhome, to numerous travel trailers, we have downsized over the years to a ten and a half foot Lance camper.  It’s quite a change, but a lot less hassle.  We love it!” – Glenn Johannssen, 1979 Ford F250, 1992 Lance 880

“My father and I call the camper Our June.  It’s named after my deceased Mother.  We have a specialty license plate that we display on the front of the camper.” – Glen Dougherty, 2015 Ford F350, Northern Lite 10.2
