2013 Mid-Atlantic Truck Camper Rally Blog Fires Up
For those who are new around here, the Mid-Atlantic Truck Camper Rally, aka the MATCR, is the biggest baddest truck camper rally on the planet. If it were a dinosaur, it would be a T-Rex that just ate a Brontosaurus, which just ate a tree. It’s that big and every year it seems to get bigger and bigger.
The MATCR is also the force of nature that brings the Spring weather and launches the official truck camping season. Now you can go truck camping before the MATCR, but technically it’s not official. Some people don’t mind that, others do. Suit yourself.
This year the theme for the Mid-Atlantic Truck Camper Rally is patriotism. Ron and Michelle Humphress, the Founders of the MATCR, have decided it’s about time we have a parade at the MATCR and they’re making it happen. There will also be a patriotic decorating competition for the bicycles, golf carts, skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, dune buggies, elephants or whatever your favorite mode of parade transportation may be. Now where did we put Harley’s stroller?
As if that’s not enough, Ron and Michelle are also having an apple pie eating contest. Don’t worry, we’ll take pictures. And we promise not to publish them, honest.
There’s more news on the Mid-Atlantic Truck Camper Rally blog. As always, the MATCR blog will be updated as updates are made. That’s how it works. That’s how it always works. Don’t ask questions, just go.
The Mid-Atlantic Truck Camper Rally is April 17-21, just after Tax Day because Ron and Michelle want us to feel better. And yes, it’s in the same place as last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that; Tall Pines Harbor Campground in Sanford, Virginia. Even the mosquitoes have it marked on their calendar.
To make your reservations, call the campground at 757-824-0777. There’s no registrations needed this year because Ron decided he doesn’t want registrations this year. Hey, it’s his rally and he’ll not take registrations if he wants to.
Of course Angela, Harley, and I will see you there. We wouldn’t miss it. We like pie.
