Lance has released the first photos of the new 2009 Lance 1040, the long bed version of the Euro-Style 830.

Essentially, the 1040 is an 830 that’s been stretched in the middle from 8’ 11” of interior floor length to 10’6” of interior floor length.  That’s 1’ 7” of additional counter space and under counter storage in the kitchen and 1’ 7” of additional interior storage on the mid-driver’s side.

The refrigerator has also been upgraded from the four cubic foot, three-way refrigerator in the 830 to a five cubic foot, double door, three-way refrigerator in the 1040.

Tank capacities are identical to the 830 at 30 gallons of fresh, 17 gallons of grey, and 14 gallons of black.  As with the 830, Lance will offer a cassette toilet option for the wet bath (option 570) with a 4.5 gallon black tank.  Also identical to the 830, the 1040 offers one five-gallon propane tank and a 20,000 BTU furnace.  All other features and options appear to be identical to the 830.

Lance is reporting the dry weight of the 1040 as 2,420 pounds, 200 more pounds than their reported dry weight of the 830.  The base price MSRP of the Lance 1040 is US $21,453 excluding options, freight, and tax.

If you happen to live in Portland, Oregon, Lance has informed us that the one and only Lance 1040 in existence is currently at Curtis Trailers in Portland, Oregon.  If you’re in the neighborhood, please take lots of interior and exterior photographs of the camper and submit them to gordon@truckcampermagazine.  We’ll run your photos in a follow-up and give you full credit.

For further background on the Lance 1040, check out our April 2008 article, “Lance Debuts Euro-Style 830” in which Gary Conley, National Sales Manager, and Les Fowler, Product Development Manager, discuss the vision, design, and features of Lance’s new Euro-Style campers.
