A big thank you goes out to Bill Ward of Hallmark RV and Rex Willett of Northstar Campers for making our Ask the Expert series a success. Our email boxes have been exploding with comments about the Propane System Maintenance and Safety and Thetford Cassette Toilet Systems. More Ask the Expert articles are in the pipeline, so stay tuned. Thank you, readers, for your positive feedback. “Just wanted to pass along my thoughts about the "LP" article; OUTSTANDING! Thank you for your efforts, and I thank Bill for his expertise and for caring enough to share it. A wanna be truck camper.” - Dan “While we do enjoy reading your weekly publication, the article on propane safety may well have been the most useful so far. The low battery scenario actually happened to us a year or so ago. The main charging wire for the truck camper had broken and the battery ran down during the night. Boy, there was a lot of scrambling around until we figured it out. We only figured it out when a couple of other electrical fixtures would not work. We live and learn, but it was an exciting event in our lives. Regards.” - Bob Durfee “Great article on propane. Never too much review for that topic.” - Barry “Superb article!” - Mike Johnson “Great article on propane. Very helpful. Thanks a lot.” - Stuart Henry “Angela and Gordon - Thanks for the informative article on propane. Thanks again for TCM. I look forward to reading every edition.” - Lyle Craig, Knoxville, Tennessee “We met each other at the Massachusetts show in the spring as we bought a 950 Eagle Cap from Bill Penney at East End campers. We enjoy the truck camping life style and have found that we have more then enough living space (two of us and a seventy pound old dog). I read your Truck Camper Magazine articles all the time. The one on the propane tanks is about the most complete explanation about the propane systems I have ever read. Thanks! My wife is always VERY concerned about it and we NEVER have traveled with the propane on in the refrigerator for that reason. Your article was very informative about that too. Thanks and keep up the great job! Happy and safe travels!” - Ed and Nancy Kaufmann “Thanks for the LPG information! I learned something about what I was doing wrong! I went out as soon as I read this article and checked my regulator. It was starting to leak. I had a yellowish flame on my stove and was having a problem with my refrigerator staying lit. I have always traveled with the LPG on to keep the refrigerator going and probably will continue, but with a lot more caution. We’ll be at the LPG station tomorrow for a full check-up; first in ten years with my camper! Thanks for the great article!” - Jim Holyfield “Angela - Excellent article on the Cassette toilet. All the best.” - Joe Mac “Good article on the Thetford cassette toilet system. I, for one, would like to see more real-world articles like this one. Everyone likes to look at all the new campers in your magazine, but articles like this one really help in selecting new equipment or troubleshooting existing problems. Good job. Thanks.” - Gary “Thanks for the article on cassette toilets! It completely answered all my questions and is the only place that I found to do it.” - Russ Collins Here are some comments from our Facebook page: “Great propane article. It's time to get my vintage 1966 truck camper on the road again. Thank you!” - Robert Jessup “Really appreciated the propane article.” - Kathy Lordier “Thank you for that informative article. You guys are the best! I’ve always been a little skittish about working around propane, but I’ll have a bit more confidence now!” - Randy Smith “Great propane article! Thanks guys!” - Matt Ward, Hallmark RV “Thanks for the article on propane system maintenance. Very informative.” - Elizabeth Miller “I have a cassette toilet in my Northstar. So many more options for disposing of waste than before. This morning I just took it out rolled it 100 yards or so to the dump station, emptied, rinsed, and reinserted. I find it more convenient than always being concerned with where a dump station is at. The gray water goes home with me for irrigation!” - Steve Fite “We decided to purchased Northstar primarily because of the cassette toilet. When camping off the grid, the cassette can be dumped in a tent camping outhouse or johnny on the job as we just did this weekend. No more spending extra time looking for dump stations.” - Linda Hanney
