Ralph and Wally have been out fishing. Ed has been
volunteering. And Ralph, Ed, and Wally have all been out
traveling in their truck campers. All three of these travelers
were interviewed by TCM in the past few months and wanted to share what
they’ve been up to since then.
Catching Up With Ralph Goff
Since July 5th, Ramblin’ Ralph and his Lance 845 truck camper have
been to Northern California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia,
Alberta, and Montana. Quite the adventure!
As you may recall, Ramblin’ Ralph has a website full of campground
comments, locations, and photos. TCM couldn’t help but ask where his
favorite campground is. Ralph responded by saying, “It’s very
hard to pick the best campground of all my travels. However, of
the ones in Canada, it would be Jewel Lake Provincial Park. It’s
very secluded, has large sites, and a beautiful lake with a
beach. It's 2 miles East of Greenwood, BC and about 8 miles off
hwy 3.”
Ralph also wrote us about a beautiful campground in Montana, but warned
us about going there because of all the fires in NW Montana.
“Last year my cousin and I stayed in the most beautiful Forest Service
campground I've ever been in (and I've been in many) about 80 miles
south of Kalispell on hwy 83. It's called Lake Alva. The
sites are enclosed with beautiful vegetation, including ferns.
Unfortunately, this area is currently having a big fire problem and it
would probably be very smoky (assuming you could even get there).”
Ralph’s travels this season have been mostly sight seeing. He has
been to one music festival in Darrington, WA. Ralph is also
enjoying his family in Montana and has been fishing most everyday.

Catching Up With Ed Krech
Ed Krech is someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty.
Ed volunteered after Hurricane Katrina using his truck camper as a home
base. He also actively volunteers in elementary schools reading
and storytelling. What a guy!
In his email he wrote, “I am so fortunate to be retired and to be able
to work with school children. This past year was also very
rewarding with the reading and story telling. I was able to do
this every week in elementary classes at different schools. I
love the hugs I get after reading to the kids. I got so involved,
that the short camping trips we did have on the schedule were canceled
due to the enjoyment I got from the reaction of the kids. When it
comes to camping or the kids, the kids win every time.”
Ed is also busy helping his friend run for president. “My wife and I
have a good friend who is planning on running for President who is from
Tennessee. We are actively working in the non-campaign. If
and when we get back on the road, I am hoping to have a banner for the
TC to display as we travel. He was in town yesterday and says he
might be announcing somewhere around 9/5/07.”
As far as truck camping is concerned, Ed plans on spending some time going west and then relaxing down in Key West in January.
Ed ends his email on a positive note saying, “Other than that, we are
having a great time and life is so good to us and our family.”

Catching Up With Wally Herrala
We bet you’ll never guess what Wally Herrala has been up to these
past two months. If you guessed fishing, you were absolutely
correct.
In the words of Wally, “We made a trip to the upper peninsula of
Michigan near Crystal Falls. We stayed a Wilderness State Park right by
the Straits of Mackinaw. After that we traveled west along Lake
Michigan. We always stop there on the way to see family near Crystal
Falls. Many people do not realize that in the upper peninsula you
look south at Lake Michigan. In the summer the south winds pile up warm
water on the north shore making for fantastic swimming and sunbathing.”
Wally’s already got fishing plans for the fall. “I'll open up the camping and salmon fishing in late September.”
Wally is famous in the fishing community. He told us about an
exciting experience he had since we last spoke with him. “One
amazing thing about my truck camper is a lot of guys who fish recognize
it from photos in fishing websites and they come over and say, “hi”. I
met a guy on the river tonight who took a photo of a smallmouth bass I
had just landed. He said, “You're Wally”.
